well i guess it depends on where you look. my oldest went to a headstart program that depending on your income you could send your child for free. you can check your area for government funded headstarts and see if you qualify .3 isnt too soon to send a child to preschool. generally as long as their potty trained then you can enroll them. although some kids arent ready til their 4. only you will know if your child is ready to start preschool.

Holy crap... I just read through the posts and no wonder some parents choose not to send them to preschool. Those prices are insane! I paid $50 a month for 5 half days a week. I did have to volunteer once a month though and pay for her school supplies so maybe that parts different.
As for your own situation.. if you think she's ready then by all means send her. Some will flat out say no and send them home at 3 if their not ready, some kids aren't. Only my oldest ever attended preschool it was beneficial for her though since she is the oldest child in the family so she needed the socialization skills. She only attended for a year and went onto kindergarten just fine. Our next one is starting school this august and he's going straight to kindergarten the school didn't see any reason to have him there since he's progressing just fine and doesn't need the socialization skills the way our daughter did. (they both knew all the other things like, colors, counting, shapes, how to spell popcorn words, etc...)

the preschool i work at in CT costs $165 a week!!!! 3 is a good time to start because will give her socialization.

ask about the schools accredidation to find out if they are a decent place. NAEYC is the highest national standards to follow so if you hear that you are in a good place

My son will be 3 in aug and is starting preschool in aug. He and my 4 yr old daughter will be going to preschool at their elementary school they will attend. They will go Mon.-Thur. for 3 hrs a day and it's going to run about $150 a month each.

I sent my son to a montessori for kindergarten, it also has preschool, I believe preschool costs $700-$1000 per month depending on which groups they belong. The preschool also doubles up as day care, so preschool stuff in the morning, and after school day care. To find reviews about schools, I go to greatschools.net, it has reviews from tests and parents. I don't think it's too soon. Good luck!

My 4 year old loves pre school She goes at our church we only pay 95.00 a month for 3 days a week 3 hours a day. Its been great in helping her get ready for school. I think I may put my other one in at 3 they charge 75.00 a month for 2 days 3 hours a day for the three your olds at my church.

3 is a good age to start them. I have 4 children all total kindergartener getting ready for 1st grade and a k-3 going into k-4. I see a HUGE difference in them. Although my 5 yr old is smart and has made the Honor Roll all year long. He is lacking in social skills.whereas my now 4 yr old has took off. if you are a low income family..there is a prgram called STEP Inc. They have a headstart program which is government funded. preschool is very expensive. most public schools will not allow them to start preschool until age 4. if you feel your child is ready, go for it. you know whats best for you, your child, and your family. just be prepared for some unliked behaviour for a while. they pick up everything.
