I am 25 years old and I don't like putting things on my body that could be harmful to my baby, I spent all day in the sun walking around and got a sunburn, could this harm my baby?

I'm pretty sure it can't unless it's like taking a hot bath. I got poison oak when I was pregnant and my ob-gyn wasn't concerned about it.

I talked to the Dr about the sun when I was pregnant. She said to use a sunscreen made for babies. It will still protect you, but they are barrier lotions so they won't absorb into your body, and therefore won't affect your baby. I would make sure to use something still, there are other things to worry about (skin cancer and such).

Thank you to all that have responded, I will look into the natural alternatives for sunscreen- thank you Jenifer, and thank you Krystal this makes me feel better, seeing as I am 22 weeks pregnant, sorry to hear about that sunburn, mine is not to bad just on my shoulders and upper back, but I am a side sleeper so it didn't affect me, and thank you Carly, I had lots of water with me so no worries there.

I don't think the burn would be as harmful to your baby, but you do need to worry about getting over heated and dehydrated, both can be dangerous

I don't really think so, I got a horrible burn last June and I was three months pregnant and it didn't affect her at all. I just hurt really bad and couldn't sleep on my back because that's where I was burned at and obviously couldn't sleep on my belly so I was miserable, but it didn't affect her.

No, it won't harm your baby, but it can harm you! If you're worried about the ingredients in sunscreen, try a natural alternative, like one that is primarily zinc oxide.
