My son was the same way. All he did was babble till he was around 1 1/2 years old. I got him the baby einstein videos and he learned sign language for the things he wanted but couldnt say. But I suggest not comparing to other children. I did the same thing. At 1 1/2 my son was going through speech therapy, but it was nothing I couldn't do at home. At 8 months I would start to worry just yet. Repetition and being specific are the best ways to teach speech. Use adjectives to describe everything. He will pick up soon enough. Now my son has better speech than most adults I've heard. lol

If he isn't saying anything like DADA or MAMA I would have have his ears checked. My friends daughter had clogged ears from her birth. She couldn't hear anything but, I am sure it is normal. My daughter just started talking and she is 9 months old.

At 8 months he should only be able to babble. It should be a lot of "baba, mama, dada" sounds. I'd say he's probably fine. If he's still not babbling when he turns one then have him checked out. For now just do a lot of repetition to him and he'll pick up on it.

he's fine. kids learn on different levels. if your worried your not doing enought just make sure you talk to him as if he totaly understands you. describe things that you are doing while doing them. and if people think your crazy dont let it fase you. you child is perfect and you are the perfect parent for him. dont let anyone tell you or make you feel differently. hell talk when he is ready. boys are more physical and want to master that world first. the speach thing comes second to learning how to clib like a cat and get into everything. he is going to be more spacial like trying tofit his body into small nooks under cabinets and under the crib. let him just make sure its safe. goodluck. huggs becca

hi yes that is normal especially with a boy, boys always take longer to speak than girls. i have 2 boys and everyone is different, he will talk in his own time, just keep telling him words and he will soon say something.

Its fine hun, every baby is different so its best not to compare... My Daughter is 14 months and does not say alot but she is so forward with everything else i figure she will talk when she is ready, my son was very different and his speech was excellent by 18 months old and they are brother and sister so as you see every baby is different :D xxx
