My 5 1/2 month baby girl has been an excellent sleeper since she was about two months old. She slept in her crib and was sleeping through the night really good. About a month ago she was teething really bad and was not sleeping good at all. It has gotten a little bit better but since than she hasn't slept through the night. She used to go to bed around 9 and now its between 9-10:30 and she will always wake up at 5 if not sooner. Some nights she wakes up only once but alot of the nights she is waking up twice. I don't know why she is doing this.

Any Suggestions?

hey, i went through the same with my little girl, its because she has developed a bad habit and knows that when she crys you will attend to her. I know it sounds awful and it was hard but you need to let her cry it out, she can obvisously sleep through without a feed as she has done it before so try wait 15minutes when she wakes in most cases they go back to sleep. Goodluck!

Thanks for all the advice ladies. It really helps when I get other mom's opinions. I do have music for her and I try putting her soother back in her mouth and playing the music. I am hoping that it will pass. it is hard when you get used to her sleeping pattern and than it changes all of a sudden.

I did the exact same as Jaimee Conder, my little man has slept through the night since he was bout 4 1/2 months i used control cry now he goes to bed at 730 and wakes up at 730-8. if he wakes during the night i wait at least 15 min and 9 times out of 10 he goes back to sleep on his own. if not he has a night light sound mobile that i turn on which destracts his mind onto it and he falls back to sleep on his own i only will ever get him out of his cot if he is screaming really bad give him a quick cuddle dont talk or make eye contact put him down and walk out and it works! i dont know if im just lucky but he has been a good sleeper from when i started this. Good luck.

This could be due to a growth spurt, she may be waking up hungry

OR it could be due to the change in season. The weather can sometimes affect sleeping. Too hot, too cold etc.

Could be any number of reasons why she's waking. If she's not hungry and not wet not too hot or too cold it could just be a bad habit developed from teething. When she wakes try tucking her in and playing some soft music.

Hope this helps
All the best

yeah its really your call, mabye try just walking in picking him up cuddling him then putting him back into bed awake and see if he drifts off, then try letting him cry for 10mins and doing the same, he will soon relise its sleep time! this is just advice i have been told and it did work. goodluck xx

wow.. im a little jealous.. my son is about 5 months, and goes to bed around 9 or 10, wakes up to eat anywhere from 1:30 am, to 5 am.. then back to sleep, and up again usually 3 or 4 hours after the first time.. and he doesnt nap during the day bery well at all... the weird thing is, he is my 3rd child.. my first 2 (girls) were a breeze.. and now im a little boggled.
