Any ideas on how to get my 2.5 year old to start toilet training?? i have tried everything from bribes to encouragement to different types of pottys and toilet seats... he is just not interested at all.

You cannot force him to go. Does he wear pull-ups or tell you when he goes in his diaper? If he knows when he is going, then he is ready to be trained. With my daughter, I would sit her on the potty first thing out of bed. If she went, we would cheer her and give her a treat. Throughout the day I would just sit her there and sometimes she would go. Once she got use to that, she didn't want to go in her diaper. She also wanted to wear "big girl panties." I hear that boys can be lazy when it comes to the potty. They like to run around and play and not worry about it. I hope that some of the things I said will help.

Every child is different. Pushing him will do no good if he is not ready. My best friend's son turned 3 at the end of April and he is just now officially potty-trained because he had no interest whatsoever and could not be forced. My son was 2 1/2 when he was, and since it was hot outside we let him run around naked. He knew that he was not allowed to pee on the floor, and he definitely would not poop on the floor, so he asked to go on the big potty when it was time. They are all different and it will not work until the light bulb comes on for him and he decides he's ready. Good luck!

alot of my friends just let their boys run around naked, and most daycares take another child who is already trained and around the same age in with them, then it becomes more like a competition with them, also we use the open door system when we go my daughter will sit on her own potty. but he will do it at his own time.

All I can say is I will send you positive energy and good vibes for patience on that one because my first daughter who is now 6 never had a "potty". I just got one of those little seats that fits the toilet seat for a toddler and she sat on that and trained straight to the toilet. But I have heard that boys are harder to train than girls. He's a cute little man too! Good Luck honey!
