I went for a walk today it was about a little windy18 degrees celcius not bad for alberta weather actually nice my sons stroller still uses the carseat I had so many people look at me like I should not have my baby out? He had a toque he had that carseat cover thing that only allows the head out. I also had extra blankets below just incase what is up with this I live 3 blocks from my post office its a small town I walk everywhere. My stroller completely protects him froim the wind/ weather I do check and his bottle was still warm when we got home. One older lady said she thought it was great and told me so , she was also fascinated with how well protected he is I take him out alot so I am prepared for all weather as well ashow much I walk after she heard a snide comment directed about having new babies out. Come on he is 6 months old and fresh air is great for his asthma.

I dont get people and I see what youa re saying completely Brittany do they not get that them overheating is one of the main contributing factors with sids.. A baby a bit cool is better then to hot.... Sounds lilke your little one was just right

My daughter is only 3 weeks old. Other than her dr's appointments the only time I've taken her out was Mother's Day. My mom suprised us with a visit (the first time she saw my daughter) and took us out to spoil her.

No one said anything about her being out, which i was expecting because she's so small but one woman was fussing at me that I needed to cover her up. We were in Walmart, I was carrying her in my arms and holding her blanket. I didn't have the blanket on her because the air conditioning was not on and she was warm. When I tried putting it on her she pushed it off. I don't understand why strangers think they can tell you what you need to do like you don't know your own child.

Maybe it was because he was dressed up so much and not because you had him out? 18 degrees.. sheesh, we got freakin snow today. Stupid Sask weather.

Aime you are in saskatoon right? Thats where I live but I am from southern alberta where melissa lives and the wind there can be very terrible, which makes a day of 18 actualy feel quite cold. we dont get that wind here in sask so when it is 18 it is beautiful out for us. we are lucky for that but then again we get thoes -45 winters ugggh. cant win anywhere.

well melissa I think the reason many moms like to dish out insults to good mothers who follow recomendations set out by health canada (or what ever country they are from) isd because they are jealous that good mothers take the time to do what is right and thoes other mothers are just to lazy to do whats best and well known as healthy for their babies. in the case of old meddling ladies well they are just going on outdated information and are set in the ways for how things worked for them and how their babies grew up just fine.ignore it, us moms who take the time to educate ourselves on current information regarding infant care and development are doing what is best so keep doing it.

That's ridiculous. If 18 degrees with a little wind isn't nice weather what is? Some people need to pull their heads outta their arses. Sorry about the bluntness, it's late, I'm tired and some people really are just dumb. Don't let that behavior get to you. I take my 6 week baby out and no one's ever said anything to me. Though I dare someone to try and make that kinda comment to me. =D

I lvoe how you say arses and think its being blunt, hell amie, just say asses you know you wanted to. I know I want to. I mean you take your kids out you get bitched at, you stay at home you get bitched at. You cant win.

LOL That's true enough. I have friends always correcting me the way you just did. Most of the time my mommy brain is going though and I correct myself so as to not swear. We always laugh at that though, it's difficult to go from being around them all day keeping yourself in check to hanging out with the girls and saying what you really want to.

I'm glad I'm mostly oblivous to the morons out there though. Unless someone actually says something to me or my family I don't notice much. When I do notice most don't like what I have to say though. lol.

18 degrees isn't bad weather.... god i live in the UK. I'd only ever get out about 3 months a year if that was the case. Fresh air is always good as long as they're wrapped up. My daughter is 4 months and loves being out doors, she has a coat for all types of weather and i find she sleeps much better at night too. She was born at xmas and she was out and about from about a week old for walks and things all wrapped up

It'daft. I dont understand why people feel the need to judge, especially strangers!

Don't worry about, let them talk. It's your baby and if you think he is ready for a walk and is all bundled up or whatever clothing the weather dictates, it's up to you. don't let "advice givers" a second thought. You're a good mom!

I am very responsibe with protectimg him from the wind as he does get ear infectins easy so he always has his ears covered in any winds I have several thin toques just for our windy Alberta weather and the cover is just made to be a protector so he doesnt get the winds and yeah he totally is not a new baby when people see him they think he is one he is in 12 month and 18 moth clothes but as I said earlier she was just assuming he was new as she could not see in my stroller with the two canopies I have on my stroller

6 months isn't exactly a new baby! 18 degrees is quite fair and if you have him well covered then so what? some people just need to criticize others to feel better, as long as your son is happy and healthy thats the main thing! fresh air is good for babies anyway, if u stay indoors all the time u end up going mad! I know i do anyway!

dw bout them some people are stupid, really ive walked my daughter in shorts and a tee shirt when i thought it was warmer outside but by the time i got home it was freezing weather. her legs and arms were cold but she was not bothered in the slightest. if baby is happy who cares what others think tell them to go f... themself i would. we've taken our baby out in nothing but a nappy in the hot hot weather and in the shops its quite cool and we got looks to. we know we are doing are great job and are great parents so we dont care
