When your baby cries at night, how do you wake up? What about during the day?

I am a deaf mom who currently depends on her husband to wake her whenever the baby cries. My husband has a job where he can no longer be home every night, so what do I do? What's out there that can help me wake up to my baby? I am looking for recommendations.

@Petra, I've tried for YEARS to sleep with my hearing aid in. unfortunately, i have to be awake to be able to hear with my hearing aid. same thing if i am unconscious. i just can't hear unless i'm awake and conscious.

i finally got a bed shaking device that works pretty well for the most part, IF i go to bed early with my son. if i am totally exhausted, i tend to sleep through it. but thankfully, hubby's work has been kind of slow, so he's able to be my back up alarm for the time being!

This could be a dumb question - but can you sleep with your hearing aid in? I crank the volume on my monitor at night in case I sleep on my good ear.

tried it and it does vibrate but not very much. i think it is meant to wear on your hip while you're doing dishes or something. put it under my pillow and didn't feel a thing! i guess i must be a really deep sleeper too! (what i am doing now is that i have my natural alarm called mommy's instinct and i wake up just "sensing" that he's crying!! but soon i need some kind of back up, just in case.....)

Hi April, I looked on Graco's website and see that they make a few monitors that have a vibration function. I'm not sure how heavily you sleep, but I'm thinking that if you put it under your pillow, you'd probably feel it.
