Children at bedtime.....

Jamie, I have a 2 year old daughter that never agrees with bed time or nap time for that matter. I let her pick two books and only those two books. She is allowed to take them to bed with her and she almost always falls asleep before she's done "reading" them. If she gets out of bed or plays in anyother way than reading the two books she was allowed to pick out I take those books away and tell her she won't get any the next time either. (this also works for when she is chewing on them or misbehaving with paper page books in any way). We've been able to leave toys in her room and rarely have had to take the books away. We also listen to music no matter what just to had a distractor from outside noise. Often I will hear her singing to one of the songs on Christian Radio instead of reading a book and before long she's sleeping. I hope you have had good luck with what you've already done. Wow, Jenny that just isn't such a bad idea. I will defantly try to look for some Christian Cd's for them to listen to. I know just the other day they mentioned music and I ended up saying no" I dont know why, I just never thought of it during bedtime for them. But they did just get a new charoake/CD player for Christmas from grandmom. So you know what I will try that tonite, we do have a few starter CD's. By the way that den is finally fixed and the toys are out. It has worked, but my girls can play with anything. LOL, I caught them playing with their scrunchies, their belts and their books, at bedtime. Thank you for your interest in my post. Welcome to the group too.

I have 4 kids 3 boys and one girl and some night the 3 boys (who share a room) are very roudy.

we have a routine were we do a family devotion in the boys room and say our prayers then they all get in to bed they have a sterio which they choose a Cd - christian kids worship music or stories ie. christopher church mouse , bullfrogs and butterflies. we turn out the light and they lie quietly and listen if they don't then the cd is turned off. and if they still don't settle then they loose a priveledge eg. computer Tv etc for the next day. This works for me especially on nights when my husband who is a pastor is out.
