I was recently on a thread about a girl who was nervous about vaccinating her 2 month old baby. I read alot of comments from people who were for and again it. I, myself, am most definately for vaccinations. I have created this community because there was one woman in that thread that made me extremely angry, wanting facts of how vaccinations were good for your babies, and how young moms have no idea what they're talking about. It really disturbed me. So I am making this community for mommies who agree in vaccinations, and think its perfectly healthy and the right thing to do. I got all my info, or facts, from www.vaccinateyourbaby.org. Please post how you all feel about vaccines and how they help our children stay safe and healthy. Thanks!

im so glad i found this group i actually removed my self from another mom site since so many people on there were hell bent on being mean to moms who choose to vaccinate and wanted to do nothing but tell me how i was hurting my children and when you tell them the facts they just turn it in to a name calling session..

I am pro vaccine mommy, but I will say I do have concerns. As a mom of an austistic child, I should be. I noticed no one on here has stated there child was on the spectrum. I will start by saying I believe they are extremely important, and my child has all of his vaccines. If I was to have another, that child would also be vaccinated...... I think where a lot of people have become concerned is how before when there was 18 vaccines our autism rate was low and now that we have 38 it has now increased to 1 in 100 children will become autistic.

There is some things that I think need to be adjusted, but i dont think many of youa re in the situation where you wpuld question things, since your children are healthy....

I believe they need to just be spread out some, having one done at a time. I have not tried this as I didnt learn all this info until after my child was 2. The multi doseage seems great when you think of how your baby/child is unhappy and crys from the shots. Its natrual to think a combo dose would be great, which combining 4 vaccines at once is unhealthy. The reason why this is unhealthy is because when our children are born, we dont know there state of immunity. Some childrens immune system is weaker than others. Having 4 vaccines at once for a child who has a weak immune system, is harmful because it can not filter all of the metals and toxins that are added to the vaccines. (I am not correlating this to autism, just the immune system)

The flu vaccine that still contains a small amt of mercury unless you know better to ask for preserative free. Most docts and people do not tell you this. Also giving tylenol before hands weakens the bodys natural immunity..... I just think people ( who choose not to vaccinate and that do, know all of the information to make the right decisions)

Hope everyone has a great day

Finally a group of totally SANE mothers!!!!! Seems like I am one of the brave though, I am always the one holding my kids when we have their needles, which are done at a sort of mass clinic, run by our local council, it's free & you don't need an appointment, just turn up during the specified times. I am a little nervouse about my son's 4 year shots which are coming up in August, mostly as I don't know if he is going to freak out, so anyone with tips about how to prepare him, I'm all ears! He has seen his sister's 2 & 4 month shots & was in the room for my second Gardisal & Boostrix shots (BTW...I'm saying this ALOT, but adults need a booster for Whooping Cough to protect new babies, as it only protects your for about 10-12 years) & he has been fine with seeing it all, is impressed by the fact that since Isla is too little, HE gets to have the lollies they give out to the brave kids having their needles, hopefully this will keep him amused long enough to get the needles in....I can deal with the screaming after!

Hey Sara.....Brynna was 17lbs and 26 in. When my girlfriend took her little boy to his sixth month visit he was almost 22lbs! Its crazy how every baby grows differently! She is tall! I feel like Brynna is tall but then everytime we measure her it says differently! :)

Hey everyone! We got Rowan's shots today and it all went well. She did not have a fever and has been in a pretty good mood all day, except right before bedtime! Thanks to you all for the support and advice!

Hi Sara, my daughter had a cold today when we went to the doctor and he said it was not a problem for her to go ahead and get her shots. Of course a cold is not an ear infection but she did fine. Your doctor will point you in the right direction. Good luck and I hope your baby feels better!

Well, we saw our doctor Monday when he prescribed her the antibiotics. Her fever is better, but she's still got a lot of snot and is coughing quite a bit. He said that we should keep our appointment Friday and see how she's doing. I trust he knows what is best. I have read that the reason they don't want to give vaccinations to sick babies is because they are less likely to build a good immunity to the vaccinations if her immune system is fighting off something else. We'll see...I'll let you all know and thanks for the info!

Getting the shots on Friday likely won't be a problem if her fever is gone. There's no increased risk of an adverse reaction when a baby who is sick gets the vaccines - doctors just often ask you to wait so a potential vaccine reaction won't be mistaken for a cold symptom. Hope your daughter is feeling better soon!

My sister, Jenny who is also in this community, use to be an MA at a Pediatric Office in Arizona. I just called her to ask what she thought. She said as long as your baby does not have a fever or is not weezing or coughing then she should be ok, she is on, most likely, amoxicillan for her ear infection so she should be good?! Hope this helps. It wouldn't hurt to call and ask your doctor if you can wait until her infection is gone or she is done with her meds if it bothers you that much, i'm sure they'd be ok with waiting if it makes you more comfortable.

My daughter is having her shots on Friday, but she's been pretty sick with an ear infection this week. My doctor said that we should plan on keeping the appointment on Friday and we'll see how she's doing then. I've always heard that you shouldn't give shots to an already sick baby...does anyone know where I can find out more information about this? I'm a little nervous about it since she's been so sick this week already...

Yea, its so sad! :) But its for a good reason though. Our doctors office started the new combination shots right before Brynna was born. You should ask your doctor if they're going to become available to them soon? I know exactly how it is though, my husband can't miss work so I have to do it all! :)

Jordan's appt went great as well. Wow our little ones are so similar. My daughter was 17.5 lbs and 26.5 in long. She still got 4 shots though. I make my husband go with me to hold her down. I just cannot do it; when she cries, I cry! Glad to hear everything went great for you, January!

Brynnas appointment went great! She is getting so big, 17 lbs 26 in.! I feel like it was just yesterday when I had her. Her shots went great, thank goodness they only give 2 instead of 4, the only part that makes me sad is seeing her cry! But she is getting to be a big girl. Hope everything went great for you Margie and your little one!

I'm taking my daughter tomorrow for her 6 month immunization shots! Can't wait to see how much she weighs and how long she is. I'll be sure to give her some Tylenol 20 minutes before her appointment!

You know what angers me about families that chose not to vaccinate? They act like families that do vaccinate are uneducated about vaccinations and they act like it is their own personal choice and that it does not impact others, which I strongly disagree with. I believe that vaccinations are a public health issue and I also believe that unvaccinated children put my vaccinated child at risk! When I say this to people their standard response is "You don't believe vaccines are effective if you think my child can infect yours". Sounds like they are the ones that don't do their research if you ask me! They would know that no vaccine is 100% effective and that it's herd immunity that is the key player in any community. It just really angers me. I have yet to see any convincing evidence that vaccines are bad. Sure, I get a little nervous when my baby gets vaccinated, no mother likes to see her child get shots, but the benefits outweigh the risk in my opinion. Just had to vent! :)

Awesome group! I'm glad to see some other pro-vaccine moms - it always seems like the anti-vax crowd is making the most noise in the media and on the web. I hope we can share some good information and experiences.

I was on that thread as well. I was getting very aggravated as I am for vaccinations. I wanted to post a link about a measle outbreak in San Diego due to an unvaccinated child. Infants contracted this disease from this 7 year old boy as the infants were too young to be vaccinated yet. Other parents had to quarantine their children for weeks, miss work, miss school, etc... all because this boy did not have his vaccinations.

You know I am all for vaccines!! You have heard alot more stories of little babies getting meningitis. It's a scary thing to think that our vaccinated kids are the only think that is protecting the unvaccinated children. Especially when vaccinated children are becoming few and far between. Yay for all who vaccinate!!
