Hi! Im looking for a good computer based homeschooling program. My child is 3.5 so I have a while but wanted to get started early on doing my research. Public school is out of the question and private schools are expensive and I just feel I can do a better job. I went to private and public schools and feel they were horrible experiences. I didnt want to learn and dont want that for my child. Im hoping someone has a program they use and love and can steer me in the right direction! Thanks:)

This book may give you some things to think about: Legendary Learning: The Famous Homeschoolers' Guide to Self-Directed Excellence

http://www.amazon.com/Legendary-Learning...

This is probably the best parenting book I have ever read. How you can offer your kids the skills they need to follow their passions and succeed (as they define it) in the world. Although it is geared to homeschoolers, most of this can be applied to children who attend school. She discusses Montessori, Charlotte Mason, A Thomas Jefferson Education (a form of classical education,) and unschooling. She has researched how many highly successful people were educated as they grew up. Although all were homeschooled for some period of time, many also went to school for awhile as well. She discusses people like Thomas Edison, Teddy Roosevelt, Pierre Curie, Agatha Christie, Margaret Leakey, and many, many others. The bottom line is to help your child find their passions and teach them the creativity and skills to attain their goals.

i just entered a new program called www.k12.com im not sure what area your in. but its a free homeschool program thru the internet. All the lessons are on the internet, plus they give you all the books, and art crafts you need. and if you need a computer they let you borrow a laptop. No catch to it, I was pretty skeptical, but i was in a hurry to get my daughter into a program( and I had no money). Shes 6 yr old and I enrolled her into kinder. She loves it and its a great program. check it out!! www.k12.com

I'm not homeschooling but I have my son on starfall.com we both love it! I paid for the home version which is $35/month. I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for but it's worth a try. Hope this helps! Good luck!
