New York state Health Department is making it manditory for all health care workers to recieve the H1N1 vaccine, How does everyone feel about that? Are other states doing that? How do you feel about the fact it was made in such a rush? They are using the preservative thimerosal, which is linked to autism. When they made this vaccine in 1976 they had LARGE number of cases of Guillain Barre Syndrome, causing parilization to death, they are warning us about that possibility. What are your thoughts?

Hate It!!!! Just got my mandated shot. I have 2 kids with autism. i know the vaccines don't CAUSE autism, but in some sensitive individuals, they do not process any medication the way a regular person would. They have a problem detoxing any substance. Vaccines happen to fall into this category. Until they can come up with "designer" medications or vaccines that take into consideration dosing on someones ability to break down those products in a timely fashion, I am AGAINST mandated medication of anykind!!!!

I would not allow my family to take it if i had to, to continue to butter the bread I would but nobody is touching my family with a vaccine that has not proven effectiveness. This was most certainly blown out of proportion.

It was mandatory for both seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccines at my facility. We also had a large number of cases of H1N1 in our pediatric and adult patient populations. We had a local 11 year old girl (who was healthy with no past med hx) die quickly from H1N1. Needless to say, my entire family was vaccinated for both. None of us suffered any side effects. The benefit definitely outweighed the risk.

I would rather wear a face mask all day then get the H1N1 shot.

Opposed. Opposed. Opposed. A facility I know of made it mandatory to take the annual flu vaccine, but you could refuse if you agreed that while in patients rooms to wear a surgical mask. This policy is in effect for the duration of flu season. They identified those that took the shot by a colored dot on the name badge which I felt was discriminatory and a violation of privacy. But that's just me and I can be a bit radical. They offered the H1N1 but did not make it mandatory.

I oppose forcing anyone to get the vaccine too.

I, too, am opposed to the N1H1 vaccine. I will not take it and will not encourage anyone else to take it. I am more afraid of the adverse reactions rather than getting the flu. It is not mandatory in Texas, but I applied for a prn position giving the vaccine. One of the requirements is getting the vaccine. Guess I won't be doing any prn work there. ;-)

I STRONGLY oppose forcing anyone to get a vaccine. I work in Idaho and the vaccine is available for the employees of the hospital I work in. It's "encouraged" but not mandatory. My guess is that a bit more than half the people in my department (L&D) got the vaccine. I didn't.

There's got to be a way to refuse. Is the state willing to compensate anyone that is injured from the vaccine? I'm sure there's got to be a loophole to get out of it somehow.
