You know there are alot of people out there who put others down for the names they pick for their kids. To them I say "Too Frickin Bad"! My family has alot of unique names and I love them all. A name does not make a person more or less of who they are. The person is what makes the name!!!!! So to people who put others down for the name choices they make, why don't you find something better to do with your time, PLEASE!!!!!

Agreed, when we named our daughter Topanga, we got ALL kinds of terrible comments! Now 2 1/2 years later they have given it up and realized it suits her (or she suits IT) just perfectly!

Iv never had a problem with people saying my first name (jodie!) but my surname on the other hand - Chattell - no-one can EVER say it haha... Its spelt Chattell but it sounds more Shattell if you get me haha... Its french you see haha... When I was pregnant I wanted a unique name for my little girl but ended up going with Madison as it was the only name me& her dad could agree on haha... Unique names are the way forward I think... Xo

I totally agree. We are a white non hispanic family but everytime someone says my daughters name they put on the spanish accent. Her name is Gabriella. My other daughters are Shyannah, Mackenzie, and Skyler. Alot of poeple pronounce Shyannah(shayannah) it is said the way it is spelled. Her brother and sisters call her shyshy. But when poeple hear it they say shayshay. I don't know why poeple want to add an a to her name.

hi, this is so true.. i mean i am muslim. For the muslim world they are common but for the rest they are unique. People put us down because we have names like this, as they have not heard the names we are given or we give our children so we get looks.. yeah people should find something better to do rather then putting each other down..

Hi all and welcome to this community...... My name is dani and i have beautiful twin daughters Shaylee Raynee & Miklynn Jo ( pronounced Mikelynn) who I am CONSTANTLY getting grief on b/c their names. I am VERY VERY proud of their names. I thought there should be a place where Moms can brag about their childrens unique names. Please share your stories wold love to hear them!
