Hi Everyone, Sorry I have been off line for a while and neglectful of the group I started but I have just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and am a little scared. I have joined weight watchers and there is a fantastic website on line www.PEERtrainer.com. I have been given until the end of January to control my sugar and bring it down or I have to go on insulin. I was told that having gestational diabetes and having a child over 9 lbs is a sure sign that you will develop diabetes. Although I am still searching for ways to make this easier on me and my family I wanted to check this sight and see if anyone else had joined and see if anyone else is possibly going through the same thing. Please invite others to join this page and let me know if you have any great sugar free recipes I could try. \nThanks to everyone who has checked out this site!\nJackie

Hi Jackie. Thank you for starting this community. I remember feeling so alone when I was pregnant and didn't have a contact with other moms with GD, and I know this would have helped.

Sorry to hear about the type 2 :( My husband's mom is type 2. I hope you aren't blaming yourself though, because there is enough to deal with in life that you don't need to do that to yourself. I read some of your other posts, and I am on the same page with you as far as trying to help your children make better choices. That's what this really boils down to I think. We know we have this predispostition in our genes, and whether or not we get it, the best thing we can do is make good choices and help our children do the same so that maybe they won't develop type 2.

Hugs on this end and I wish you the best!
