Hi Moms!!! If anyone is located in or near San Jose, CA, I would love for you to join me... please see below!

Stay strong ladies!

I was diagnosed with cancer the day after my son was born last September. I had surgery a year ago in February and we thought I was in the clear until we recently got the results back of a PET scan this past January that showed a new growth on my mesenteric lymph node. We are heading back to Stanford in May for more tests and will hopefully know more as it relates to treatment, etc. The good news is that I feel great and have no side affects and no pain.

Last year, I had a wonderful team walking with me on this inaugural year of the Livestrong Challenge in San Jose. It was very emotional and overwhelming. We all had a great time and I was fortunate to be able to raise over $10,000 for this cause that has affected my life.

I had such a great time last year; I am going to be on the streets of San Jose once again on July 12, 2009. I have created a team, Team Reisa B and hope that I can encourage some of you to join me on my quest to raise money for cancer research. I have a site created for those of you who are so inclined to join me on July 12 in either walking or riding and to get donations. I have another site for those of you who simply wish to donate to the cause.

Personal Page link:

http://sanjose09.livestrong.org/reisab To make a donation

Team Page link:

I realize that this is not the best of times however I am optimistic and have set a goal to raise $10,000 and would love to have at least 25 people come to support me in my battle to raise cancer. If you are so inclined to donate, please check with your employer if they do a matching program. This is a great way to double your donation.

Thank you all for your support during this time. All the love and prayers are welcome.

Thank you,

Reisa

Claudia -
I am doing well. They believe that it is not growing at this time. I am seen by Stanford doctors every 6 months, so far so good. I go back April 4 for another test and get the results on April 7. Fingers crossed! I will have to ask my dr about the drug you have taken and see what she knows about it. Yes, I have been told the same about my age. I was diagnosed at 36... most people with this disease are 70+ year old men! Its nuts! I would love to keep in touch! I never come on this site... please feel free to reach out to me at reisababic@gmail.com... hard to find women with this type of cancer!

Best,

Reisa

Hi, I also had a Neuroindokrine Tumor in my small intestine 3 years ago. They got it all, but it had allready gone to my liver. So far the Metastases are keeping quiet. I get a shot once a month from Novartis Sandostatin 20 mg. It keeps the tumors at bay, and the symthoms like flush. I live in Germany and my insurance here pays for the expensive shots which cost 2,800 euros a piece. Thats over 3,000 Dollars. I heard in the states the insurances dont cover it. Novartis has just come out with a new treatment which will be on the market next year, also a shot which goes into the cancer cells and keeps it at bay. I hope that you are doing good at this time. The first 3 years after my surgary were hell. Its only been in the last 3 months that I am starting to live life again, and not be so afraid of the future. Tell me your story , there are so little people out there that have these tumors. Most are lots older than me. I am 38. They say that is young to have this cancer. Would love to talk to you about your experience. I have to children, Sebastian 17 and Sabrina 14. They were born in the states. We used to live in West Palm Beach Florida for 20 years. My husband is Cuban-American. He works for an American Company over here. Byeeeee Love Claudia
