I heard that if you have a baby boy that you have a higher chance of getting postpartum depression. I had a boy and i had postpartum depression. But i dont know if the statement is true.... how many of you had both?

Have a 3 and a half yr old son...Had early stage of PPD 2 and a half months after he was born...I called one of my good friends and told her how I was feeling since she went through PPD and she todl me to call my dr ASAP...Thankfully he was able to work me in and put on on Zoloft 10mg for 3 months and it helped and he put me on YAZ birth control pill after I was unable to nurse my son about a month after he was born....4 months after he was born I started having anxiety/panic attacks and my dr put me on Xanax...PPD is a lot better but I still have my good and bad days....My nerves got really bad a year and a half ago and called my dr and he said that I was still in the "aftermath" stage of having PPD and put me on zoloft 50mg and it helps calm me down....I also work from home and my son goes to daycare 3 days a week and I have him at home with me 2 days a week and trying to get my work done and tending to him...I hear about the correlation btwn PPD and having boys but I think they are starting to rule that out because they are finding that PPD and having girls are just as bad..My cousin has a daughter and had severe case of PPD and still has it and not sure how bad she has it after the birth of her 2nd child which is a boy...I also read that if you have family history like someone in your family that has or have depression, you are prone to get depression like PPD and etc....I'm also thinking that I don't want another one even tho I would like for my son to have a sibling, I just don't know if I can or if my body can go t hrough it again..

I have had four children - girl, boy, girl, boy. With both boys I experienced/am having PPD. I've never heard that, but I wondered about it.

I heard the opposite that women who have baby girls have a higher risk b/c of the hormones of the mother and the daughter's hormones increases the risk of ppd.

I had severe ppd with my second not with my first. Still suffering a year later, not as bad, with lots of help from therapists, antidepressants, yoga, friends, family. still have bad days. scary and so unlike first son, now seven.

I had a girl and was elated. Then I had a boy and was diagnosed with PPD. That was my experience

I have 4 kids, 2 girls and 2 boys, and I had PPD with just one of them, baby #3 who was a girl.

I have a boy, and I also suffer from PPD but it also doesn't help with a deployed husband.

I have a girl and a boy. PPD both times...and in between. Every circumstance is different, so don't let it discourage you from having other kids. You know the signs of PPD, so does your doctor. Trust in your support system.

I have a son and suffer from bad PPD. I thought it would be easier when I found out I was having a boy, but I have still not really bonded with my baby. He will be 15 months in 2 weeks, and I still suffer from horrible depression. I am open to any suggestions as to how to combat this terrible feeling.

My PPD was much worst with my son than with my daughter but it had nothing to do with their sex. The circumstances were much harder after having my son because I now had a toddler and newborn to take care of which contributed to my PPD.

I don't know if that is entirely accurate. I have a boy, and did/do suffer from PPMD. But I work with a support group for mothers suffering from PPMD and really a lot of my mothers that I work with have daughter.

I had ppd with my first pregnancy which was a girl. I am now pregnant with my second child who is a boy and it has surfaced already during the pregnancy. My OB just starteted me on Zoloft due to my history. So I guess it can happen with both. I have noticed it has been worse this time with the boy pregnancy though.

I have two boys, and PPD with both. I've never heard of a correlation with the sex of the child.

I have only had a boy and had PPD the once. It was bad enough it is a serious concern which will probably prevent me from trying for another child.

I had 2 boys and PPD twice. Not sure if there was a correlation or not. Dont' remember hearing that....I'll be curious to hear if others have.
