Hi! I'm planning on doing a cupcake theme for my daugher's first birthday party. I think I'm going to make a giant cupcake for her to eat using the Giant Cupcake pan by Wilton. But what should I do for the rest of my guests? We will probably have about 25-30 people, both kids and adults. Is a cupcake tree good enough or should I have an actual cake? All opinions and advice welcome!

Elizabeth that is such a cute idea!! I love that and might have to do that for my little guys first bday. I can imagine the other kids at the party loved it too with having little footprints. If you have a pic please post it cause I am sure we all would love to see it :-)

I recently just took up doing my own cakes and my son who is 5 wanted a Blues Clues party. It is so hard to find Blues Clues things so I made his cake with cupcakes in the shape of Blue. Then I had several other single cupcakes with pawprints surrounding the Blue cake. The kids loved it!

Depends on what size tree you have. I have the largest Wilton one which works out really well, but the small one looks too tiny. For my daughters birthday instead of a cake for everyone we make cupcakes and arranged them on a cake board and had some just regular decorated cupcakes and others had a letter on each spelling out happy birthday

CUPCAKES! What a great idea! I like the idea of having the kids decorate their own...I know so adults who would like that too!

Cupcakes are so hot right now! They are easy and mess free. Kids and adults alike love them. I really would not waste my time on a cake. Just make plenty of cupcakes for everyone to have at least one.

Hi I just made a cake for my daughter that was a big ice cream cone and she loved it as well as everyone else. If you are having a party you can always do a special cake for her and make cupcakes or sheet cake for everyone else. That is my suggestion. I will post my picture of the cake I made. We didn't have a party for my daughter that was as many as you are having but we had enough for about 15 or more. I did both confetti cake and chocolate cake. Good luck!

Cool idea, i've never thought of doing a cupcake themed party, have seen the giant cupcake pan by Wilton and am planning on getting myself one of those, lol. I can't be sure whether a cupcake tree would be enough or not, but I know when I go to a birthday party I don't usually go hungry, and most people I know don't go expecting to eat a lot, so you'd probably be okay with just the cupcake tree, but if ya wanna be safe bake the cake as well :)

I LOVE cupcake parties, I try to throw cupcakes in to every party I am throwing. What I love to do is make a dozen or so (depending on the amount of kids) of just white and chocolate cupcakes.. leave them plain and let the kiddos decorate there own. (thats always a hit)

I love to also make cupcakes that the adults would enjoy.. some I like to make are.. red velvet with cream cheese frosting, pistachio fudge (this is amazing I can give you the recipe) German chocolate.. it is so much fun and people seem to like it. Its fun to be able to have more then one kind of cake :)

Hope this helps.. good luck!
