use a rolling pin to palce it onto the cake and then use a fondant smoother to smooth it on carefully. Instead of buttercream a the base use and apricot glaze works a lot better i found. Good luck!!

I also love working with the marshmello fondant.  It already tastes great without having to try to work bunches of flavoring into it.  It is really easy to work with as well.

Don't be scared.  It takes extra time, but it's not as bad as I expected.  The first cake I ever decorated I used marshmellow fondant.  There is a recipe posted in another conversation here.  Just make sure that the buttercream you put under the fondant is very smooth, or you will have an extra hard time smoothing out the fondant.

Also, if you are using the Wilton brand fondant, make sure you kneed it very well before you begin.  When you first take it out of the package its rock solid!!

I was scared at first also... after working with royal icing and buttercream for years, fondant was just so different. I ended up taking one of the Wilton classes on Fondant... and then once I found the marshmallow fondant recipe (the best tasting fondant around), now I love it. The biggest thing you have to be careful of is that it dries out really fast so you have to work quick. And with the marshmallow fondant, it gets really soft really fast, so you have to work quick. In other words, with fondant, work quick! It takes some practice, but it's fun and so pretty!
