After you wrap your fondant around whatever it is you're covering...smooth it out, then use a small non-shedding paintbrush (like you would use for watercolor paints) and "paint" the fondant with clear vanilla extract. It will add some shine and keep your fondant from drying out. :) You can also add lustre dust to it to make a paint...that is my favorite new thing to add some sparkle! Good luck!!!

mine does the same.. trying to make little sugar animals.. but it keeps cracking...ahhh frustrating.

Also another trick ive learned place fondant in a ziplock bag and add a tsp of oil into it. knead it around and microwave it for 15 sec. should restore some moisture.
