Vacuuming will do the trick. Put a flea collar in your vacuum back or the dust bin receptacle and vacuum in all the dark spots and along floorboards.

Also, the best flea and tick preventative out there is the topical stuff like Frontline or Advantage. DO NOT USE HARTZ OR SARGEANTS AS THEY CAN KILL YOUR DOG. Yes, it's happened in the past.

You know I always laughed when people told me that when you have kids your dogs will just become your pets.



Before I had kids I enjoyed long hikes with my dogs & they were pampered & spoiled. Now to my dismay, yup they are just my pets. I have a 3yr, 1yr, & 9 month old that have to come first, as well as being 5 months pregnant. The dogs haven't seen a long walk in a while & I too have felt like the worst pet owner in the world.

Yes Jennifer we used frontline, put the flea powder stuff on the carpets and washed everything including the curtains!

Do you use advantage or frontline from your vet? It works amazingly!
And yeah, definitely awesome you caught them right a way! If you can get ahold of a steamcleaner or own one definitely give your carpets a good stream cleaning and wash all his bedding.

My dog has had fleas for TWO WEEKS. We washed her. During the washing, the outside hose split so I stepped on it and it slowly got worse and became a drizzle. My boyfriend told me to pick up my foot, we both got soaked. I laughed so hard I cried :)



So the hose broke and I said lets just cut it in the mean time, ok. Finish washing dog. Put the stuff down her back and it didn't work. I think I put too much in her fur instead of on her skin............ so we go to wash her again and CAN'T FIND THE FRIGGIN LEASH or actually anything that would work as one............. omg. Finally just bought one last night but my boyfriends been out all day today interviewing and drug testing for a job. So ok ok finally tomorrow the poor thing gets taken care of. Ugh. :(

Almost every dog gets fleas at some point, don't go beating yourself up! and flea collars don't always do the trick either, especially on thick coated dogs. If you have found him covered in ticks or something, then you could say thats something you should have seen but they can literally multiply by the thousands overnight, those damn fleas. We all have our pet mom moments!! Trust me, with 2 cats and 2 dogs, there have been too many to name!

Seriously Waaay tooo hard on yourself. You seem like a really together lady. Your family is lucky to have you. I throw food on the floor for the KIDS. Its a free for all. just kidding. But not about the part of you being a good mom and probably wife. I love your posts. I usually learn a lot from them. But I already learned we don't need pets. LOL
