Why are some people naming their kids names that sound like a soap opera star or a stripper? Sorry had to say it. The less syllables, the better people!

Reading the credits after a movie I saw... Reinor Scheine. Although strange, I backed up the movie to show my family. I loved it.

Actually, Espen is a name... Long before ESPN. But I agree with you that some names are atrocious! Uggghhh... Poor kids.

polly thats so sad :( We went to school with someone called Sonny he got teased alot I just dont think people had heard of that name before. But i guess it is a proper name. And yeah I dont really know how you can have good karma. Everytime Isee the word used people say I hope karma comes back to get her or something

@ mel, lol that's disturbing! I know a family of Ds aswell, darrel, darren etc. but at least they are real names! I knew a cat names karma actually! lol perhaps she needs to look up the meaning of karma.. how can a baby bring good karma? she might as well call it luck! LOL!

@ MICHELLE, agreed! irish names are unique but have history and meaning! My daughter is Ceili (pronounced kay-lee) and everyone looks at me like 'are you effing serious?' i have to explain to everyone that it is an irsh name, irish spelling, irish pronunciation and is the gaelic word for- a party with dance and music. As if i'd make it up haha! How stupid!

as far as irish boys names go, there is Declan- full of goodness, eamon- gardian of the riches, quinn- intelligent, sean- god's gracious gift, and my favourite reilly/riley- courageous valient. There are some irish names with nice meanings but most are a type of animal, a name of an ancient relative type thing, or mostly just a hair colour! ciaran for dark hair, clancy for red, type thing lol :)

ACTUALLY I'm hoping to have a wee boy and we are going through names and i really like Finlay (Scottish, means fair warrior) and of course nickname would be Finn nice enough right? BUT my last name is Moore... Finlay Moore... yea had a good laugh then TOOK IT OF THE LIST. Don't want to give my son a name that sounds like its encouraging him to get laid more!

There are some shockers on here. I couldn't imagine giving my child a name that had no meaning, no history, nothing behind it. I know many traditional names mainly Scottish, old English and Irish. There are some beautiful traditional names if someone wants a more unheard of name why not use them?

But i can't be to harsh on this I don't like names like James... its means supplanter! one who wrongfully or illegally seizes and holds the place of another. But its a very popular name, and Priscilla.. it means vulnerable which might be cute on a vulnerable infant but on an grown woman? not so cute but again very popular name. Just the way I see the names but so many love these names, so like i said i can't really judge. Some people like humor, connection (similar names) or yes "originality" (and i agree with the person who mention some of the ridiculous spelling) in the names of their children. At least it is legal to change your name in court.. but maybe not to Tallulah-Does-The-Hula-In-Hawaii. but hey what ever makes a person happy?

Well, I think that some people just want to be different but are also following the celebrity trend of naming their kids something unique. I mean look at names like Apple (food?), Reignbow, Pilot Inspektor (career, lol), and even Jermajesty. I too would like to know what goes through some people's minds at these times.

My friend who has a baby same age as my daughter and I didnt understand naming your baby Karma and I asked her she said because shes my good karma

thats funny. My son has a friend named Alaysia. When I get the list from school for Valentine's Day, I have to ask my kids how to pronounce names and if its a boy or girl. I swear I think some people just reach into a bag full of letters from a Scrabble game and however the letters come out is what they name their kid.

The worst i've seen was on facebook a girl popped up in my 'people i may know' by the name of Teelah. I clicked on it and her sibling list came up.

Teelah, Taylor, Tyler, Tyson, Tyrone, Tye and Tabitha! WHAT THE FECK?!
On this site i've seen Stone!!!! ahh eww!
I know a pugsley buzzard wateringcan, i know a Harmoniie Fayth Hopee or some crap,

There is no need for extra letters and i hate ridiculous made up names, i hate names that are a long string of words like Faith Hope Charity Chance Angel Mystique Love Harmony Heaven Smith! And i HATE normal names with disgusting spellings like Izziibellah (i've seen that too) It makes me want to vomit hahaha

April, Victoria Lynn is a gorgeous name.. not stripperish at all! :)

Oh my gosh, hilarious. Okay, so my last name is Rhoades so we have to be careful with all our kids' names. When I was pregnant with my daughter, my MIL, who named her son (my hubby) Rocky, was of course all about the pun names. She was CONVINCED I should name her Sandra so she could be Sandy Rhoades. I'm like uhhhhhhh NO.
hahaaha
On April Fools this year, we took Gemma (my daughter) to a high school and told everyone we named her Rainbow Rhoades. It was awesome.

My dad told me that I gave my daughter a porn star name. If I did, well, I can live with that. Victoria Lynn is my baby girl's name (she's 2 1/2 now). I actually got her name from Lethal Weapon, lol. A friend of mine was almost named Mary Kris Moss (I'm not kidding; that's what her dad wanted to name her). MY mom almost gave me a nun name, Marcaline Mary (gag). I agree, though, people should think before they name their kids.

The one I heard beats all of yours! I think it was about 2 years ago that a judge in New Zealand allowed an 8 year old girl to legally change her name without parental permission. Her name was Tallulah-Does-The-Hula-In-Hawaii.

See, it's all a matter of difference in likes/dislikes. I don't think Atreyu, Gypsy, or Neveah (which is very popar BTW) are that bad. Who knows, these names you may think are weird or stripperish may have some deep meaning to the parents.
