What kind of cool activities do you do with your kids?

Crafty, I am not. Are you looking for stuff you can do at home? I'm a bit hopeless but here are some of J's favorites.

We read a book together, then we turn the sofa or coffee table into a stage and do a puppet show of the book with his stuffed animals. The story usually gets derailed and turns into something totally off the wall, but it's fun to see what he comes up with.

We draw "together pictures". Each person gets to make one line with one color, then they pass the picture to the next person, and that person makes another line, and so on and so on. Sometimes we make a monster, sometimes we draw a scene from a book. The person drawing is finished if his/her crayon leaves the paper.

A variation on this is to let each person draw for 10 seconds.

Another variation is to block the page off into sections and let each person draw a section, but the lines from one section to the next have to match up. (better for older ones--little ones don't get it).

Dr Seuss board games are another fave, and they are fun for really little ones and bigger ones. Horton Hears A Who and I Can Do That were J's favorites. Also, have you played the Scrabble Slam game? It's good for the elementary set--it works kind of like skipbo except instead of matching colors or numbers, each card has 2 letters and you have to make a 4 letter word. It is only $6 at Target (the Dr. Seuss ones were rather pricey, but they were gifts).

Awwww, that's kind of cute. They couldn't have turned out THAT badly!

Poor J never does crafts unless I enroll him in some crafting activity outside the home because I SUCK at them. I tried to do this thing I saw on Pinterest where we made shamrocks out of green thumb prints on cards to give to his grandparents and it all just ended up in a big mess. NEVER again.

Pairs in Pears and Appleletters are also good board games for little ones. They are like Bananagrams but simpler for little ones.

I also dance with him ;) We look ridiculous, but it's great exercise and he gets a kick out of it. sometimes we see who can come up with the craziest moves and still keep the beat....

My kids love doing crafts. I was looking for something different because they do a lot of them. But board games sound fun too.
