so i live next door to an apartment building, it is run by my neighbor on the other side of me. i continually hear bitching and fighting with the manager and the tenants about paying rent on time.
now, i can MAYBE understand if it was a one time thing, but it's EVERY month. i just don't get where peoples priorities are. WHY can't they pay their rent? they all have jobs, one pair of them doesn't even have a car so they obviously don't have a car payment. it's not like $400 a month is too expensive either. one of them told anthony (the manager) that they are late this month because they're gonna go on vacation next week. just a thought, but maybe they shouldn't go on vacation if they can't pay rent! god, i'm just amazed at how many idiots move in there on a regular basis. i was a single mother, managed to have my own apartment paid rent on time every month, never had my utilities shut off, and was never late with my car payment and insurance. i work retail as well, it's not like i make a million dollars an hour here. it frustrates me how lazy people are. ok, rant over. :)

Yeah, I always pay my rent. It's not always on the first, but always before the 5th (the deadline).... and sometimes BEFORE the first. ;)

And what is this vacation thing you are talking about? lol

For some reason, the tenants have a sense of "entitlement". I say this since they plan to go on vacation! WTF? GET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT! How great is that, go on your F-ing vacation and come back with an eviction notice. So stupid.

I have a tenant her name is Milagros Rodriguez and her roommates Danny Denis, Danielle Denis, and Meagan Denis. They have given me problems paying rent since they first moved in and a judge kept giving them more time it's now $8,000 later and the courts have once again approved another OSC. Now she tells me she's moving next month, I feel bad for the next landlord who believes all their lies........

I know what you mean. My husband's family owns a small apartment building, so i've seen this happen. I don't know why people don't pay their rent or how they can get away with it. When a person has a mortgage and they don't pay it, they lose their house!

ahh rent is the first thing i pay. so i have somewhere to live. i had this chick on my facebook who was always like i need money to buy smokes blah blah and then was like i'm sorry that i'm 2 weeks behind on my rent but i have a kid etc etc but she was always buying smokes or "going out driving" or some shit. or getting drunk. ridonkulous.like as if the landlord is the bad guy for asking for rent money and she would always complain that their house didn't have aircon or a dishwasher etc. LOL.

Every pay day the 1st thing i pay is my rent the 2nd thing i pay is my car loan. I'm a single mum doing it tough but if i don't pay i will get kicked out. I like having somewhere to live and a roof over the heads of my children and yet i know of people who don't pay or are always late and yet they don't have any reprecussions :(

I was having this discussion with my hubby today. He's the vice-president of the board for our apartment building and tomorrow night he (along with the president and lady in charge of rent control) have meetings set up with people behind on their rent-the eviction process will probably be started in some cases. These people have stopped speaking to my husband because of this (like it's his fault they're not paying their rent) and a couple have been going around saying what an asshole he is and what a bitch the president is. One woman is $6000 behind on rent. I don't get it. Some people need to get their priorities straight.

We just moved from the UK to the US. Right now we're renting an apartment in the US, paying our mortgage in the UK (on a flat we don't live in!) and paying all the other bills that come along with living...I'm a SAHM to our toddler, so we only have one income from my husband. All my daughter has in her room is her crib and the few toys we brought with us, all that's in the master bedroom is a box spring and mattress on the floor, we have a dining table with 2 chairs, so we can't even all eat together at the table, a small couch and up until recently our TV sat on the floor...every pay day we go out and get one new piece of furniture! Why don't we just furnish our whole house in one go?! We need to pay our rent and mortgage on time... simple as!
