I get the spanking thing for older children AT TIMES, however a 1-2 yr old? Really?

And it appears the poster has a younger child in addition to her newly acquired nephew.

How about this post?

im not talking about a hard hit to draw blood or bruises but hard enough to make her stop and realise it hurts. much the same as slapping a hand that keeps reaching for the things she not allowed to touch - like t.v screen, phones etc

About a 10mo....

My ex admitted that the last time the kids stayed with him he smacked my 16 month olds hand a few times. Yep I was furious if it happens this time he looses visits until we go to court.

argh kids that age don't know anything. everything is a fun game or toy. especially things that aren't a toy.

If you think that is bad there was a girl im slightly aquainted with complaining about her daughter driving her nuts, and that she spanked her twice for not staying out of things "she knows she cant be in"...her daughter is only 9 months old!

I seriously have to stop reading threads with people justifying hitting their children. It literally breaks my heart.

Unfortunately, some people really do believe that spanking is the best way to discipline and teach (and no, I am not one of them)

I had to stay away from that thread. I heard nasty rumors. Apparently they were true. It is really depressing all these people hitting their little children. It's illegal here to strike a child under 2, and when I was a child protection worker, we removed kids from homes where the parents were unwilling to stop. Some people refuse to recognize basic child development knowledge and appropriate discipline techniques. So infuriating!
