Venting out a year of frustration!
Im a single mom and loving it, I have a 2 year old going on 3 in about a month and he attends a preschool in a rich neighborhood. I pay the same prices as any other parent there with much difficulty, but i do it becuase I want my child to have the opportunity to learn at an early age. I maybe 22 and the youngest mother with her child attending this school but at least i have my priorities straight and i can afford it. I see all the stares and whispers when i walk by. You say Hi to me, but I know your wondering why im there. I remember one parent asking me if I was my sons sister. LOL.

I attended one of my sons classmates birthday parties, knowing that I've never talked to most of the room parents there and one of the moms had the nerve to ask where my husband was and why he never takes our son to school sometimes. I told her I wasn't married and the look she gave me, i wanted to slap her! Its none of your business why I chose the life I chose, stupid wrinklie old lady. no offense to most mothers, but seriously? Why does it need to be a big deal that im single and young?

Ignore them, I went through the same thing. I was 21 when my daughter started kindergarten, and for the first half of the yr I got the same treatment, and questions if she was my sister, am i married, etc. They got over it, they had no choice,I was extremely involved in all school activites and was also the brownie leader. Now , at 43, Im one of the older moms, lol.

I say ignore the whispers they're probably just worried that their husbands may have a wandering eye! :) Good for you for being able to provide for your son, don't worry what people think of you!

ur a champion, i have a partner and loving supportive family and i still have so much trouble coping, being a single mum who obviously provides very well for child no matter the sacrifise to you or your life, is something that i'm very in awe of....

as for the others i can understand being looked at an snipped about behind your back can be hard but you seem like a very ballsy chick so have some fun, when they asked about hubby or dad put it on n tell em that he passed away tragically and when they feel really guilty and say their r sorry for you loss say something smartarse like "well dont it feel peachy keen to be a complete dick! n with a sly smile tell em ur a proud single milf n not to be so quick to judge or it will bite them in their saggy arse next time" wink n shimmy away..... or you culd deck em tell them daddy told you never to take shit from weeklings ;)

but keep on going n show ur babe how to be so strong in the face of adversity...

That's awful, people can be so closed minded. I have no problem with single Mums or young Mums, but I know some people do have funny ideas about the way things should be. In our community Britney, you would be embraced and treated with the same respect as everyone else ;-)

I wouldn't even entertain them! I'm old and single lol. My husband and I have been separated for over a year now. Well I mean TECHNICALLY I'm still married, but I have a boyfriend.
I'm 37, I didn't know you were that young! There is nothing wrong with being a young mom and being single!
