Hi, I live in New Jersey and own our home, We contacted our home insurance and just added on for the day care liability. It not as expensive as I thought.

I went to Brooklyn legal services website: http://www.sbls.org/index.php?id=32

The maximum coverage is about $1,000,000, and can cost from $784 for family day care to $1,560 for group family day care per year. The lowest amount of coverage is usually $25,000, and costs from about $335 for family to $480 for group per year. The less expensive options will still pay your lawyers’ fees if you are sued, but will give you less protection if you lose in court.

Hope this was helpful

Hi, I know this is an old post, but I just recently got my daycare insurance in order, so I thought I'd put in my two cents! I don't live in NY, but I just called my insurance agent and I could actually get a rider to my homeowner's insurance policy (through a different company, and it actually SAVES me money to add the dc ins.!) that covers me for up to 8 kids. If you haven't gotten it taken care of already, I would just call your insurance agent, or one who sells homeowners or liability insurance and ask what coverage you need. That would at least be a good place to start.
