So how is everyone dealing with the holidays?

This is my first holiday season with my SO being a truck driver and I just wondered if everyone else was as stressed as I'm getting.

We decided to celebrate Christmas this weekend (12/20/08) since we will not be together on the 25th which is fine with me but it gives me less time to get everything done.

Pro: All the Christmas decorations are just the way I like them because I put them up. All the gifts I bought for me are just what I wanted.

Con: I need another one of me so I can finish putting up the Christmas decorations, wrap the gifts, work, play....

Did I mention I think the full moon is affecting my son or something because he has turned into a little monster child in the past couple days! Hopefully my sweet child will return soon :)

Yes, I'm struggling a bit too, especially not having daddy home to decorate cookies, go caroling, and he won't be home til the 24th, and so we are having to shop alone for our 2 sons, who are 1 and 2, but still, it's sadening for me some days during the holidays that he's missing out on Christmas traditions, but that's life, so we are just trying to work around it and make the things we've always done on Christmas Eve and Day even more extra special. We always decorate the day after Thanksgiving, so my sons and I just did all the decorating, but my hubby doesn't enjoy decorating, so that was nothing new this year for us, but I miss shopping together. How old is your son? I've been trying to do some fun crafts with my boys, especially my older son, Timmy, who is almost 3, for Christmas presents, creating new traditions and memories. But we really simplified our Christmas this year versus previous years, which has really helped me a lot to just be able to enjoy the season more! Hope you are able to get all your decorating and gift wrapping done, and enjoy some great Christmas music and a cup of hot cocoa while you are at it!

I was shopping for the gifts and putting up the decorations before my hubby became a truck driver, so I guess not much has changed (lol). Fortunately for us, my hubby is an owner operator so he is always home for Thanksgiving & Christmas. The only part that I hate is that I usually have to wait until the last minute to shop b/c I have no one to watch the kids & taking the kids shopping is my least favorite thing. Well I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!
