My daughter is mixed (Portuguese and Black) and I am having a hard time with her hair. It is very curly, and very soft, and I absolutely love the curls. But I can’ seem to find a product that will help keep the curls all day long. I wanna just leave it out every once in a while, and not up in ponytails or pigtails. I refuse to use oil in her hair, but I really don’t know what else to use. Can anyone help me??

I use either blue magic or pink oil moisturer in my daughter's hair. As long as you don't put alot in it then it doesn't become oily...

There's a spray called Care Free Curl by SoftSheen-Carson that is awesome. It's not heavy or oily. I've used in my curly hair (I'm white) and it holds all day keeping your hair from becoming frizzy. You can find it at Wal-mart or somewhere like that.

I found pink made my daughters hair too greasy feeling, and that it made it harder to get a brush through it. I've tried soooooo many different hair products and mixed chicks seems to be the only one that works well.... but then again it depends on the texture of their hair. My daughters is thick, and dry but it's not as "ethnic" if you know what I mean. It's like she got my hair with the dryness of her dads..... and the mixed chicks works great.

For my stepdaughter I just use Pink lotion. And for my daughter I use baby oil, but she's 6 months old, so she's not "old enough" for pink lotion. It's decently priced and will stay in until you wash her hair.

I was just going to say mixed chicks too, I finally got it for my daughter, and OMG the difference in her hair is amazing. It's a little pricey but luckily it doesn't take alot of the product to work.

Hey I tried mixed chicks but it dried my daughters hair out. She has REALLY curly hair...corkscrew like if that makes any sense. You need to find a hairdressing greaseless creme. She will definately need some type of moisturizer for her hair---not oil. Too heavy for their type of hair. Try Motions for kids. And always use a detangler. I LOVE Johnson and Johnson leave in conditioner. Hope this helps!
