Well, we did it. After 3 years of saying I wouldn't put him on the pump I did. He has now been on for almost 3 weeks and it is going fairly well, although we're still playing with the numbers a bit.

For those of you who are trying to make the decision I must say that there are definately pros and cons. No more shots all day but he now have something attached to him at all times. He is now able to eat more inbetween meals and he's getting less insulin so that is definately a plus. It definately felt like I was learning diabetes all over again, though; but we caught on quick.

I'm writing this because I know that many have been debating whether or not to take the next step in diabetes care. It definately has to be a decision based on family circumstances and not one to take lightly as we had to go to many appointments before we even got hooked up to the pump. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask.

My 8 yr old son has been on the pump for about 1.5 years. Love it. But it still doesn't solve everything. I like the flexibility it allows with the basal rate. I think as you and your child get used to it, you will like it. Good Luck!
