I have joined this study to find a cause for HG and it has been really quick and easy! Please consider joining. Moms without an HG diagnosis are also needed as 'control partners' also!

HG Researchers need your help! This study is designed to identify individuals affected with HG, to study epidemiologic factors via an online survey, to collect DNA samples from saliva through the mail at no cost or travel for you, and to search for genes and risk factors that may be potentially associated with this condition. To be eligible, you must have suffered from HG and had treatment for your HG that includes i.v. hydration, TPN or other form of non-oral feeding (ie nasogastric feeding), OR both, and are able to recruit a friend with at least 2 pregnancies who has NOT suffered from HG to serve as a control. If you live in the United States and are interested, please contact Marlena Schoenberg Fejzo, PhD at nvpstudy@usc.edu or 310-210-0802.

www.hyperemesis.org has a lot of good information about the mystery of HG, but i must admit, i don't think it's a good idea to read much of while while you're sick. my husband 'hid' it from me for months b/c he was afraid it would upset me.

i'm so sorry you're so sick. i know how you feel. my first hospitalization was at 8 weeks and i spent my entire 3rd month on bed rest on/off IV fluids and had to start a zofran pump. i had a wonderful OB/GYN and everyone at that office was super supportive (and i got to know them really well b/c i was in so often!) they referred me for home health nursing and i was able to see or speak to a nurse who specialized in HG every single day as much as i needed to. that also helped.

not that you asked, but my best advice would be keep trying remedies until you try one that works. and when that one stops working, keep trying again, an 'old' remedy might work now. and your #1 priority must be taking care of yourself, and thus your baby. your OB has probably told you this already, but your baby is doing fine, she/he is getting everything it needs and 'sucking you dry' of all of your energy so you need to take care of you!

thanks again for joining this circle. please let me knoww hat i can bring to the circle to make it more helpful to you. HANG IN THERE!

I emailed them and hope to have a reply next week. I was admitted to the hospital Saturday night due to HG and went home Tuesday night. That was my 2nd trip to the hospital this pregnancy and I'm just under 10 weeks now. I'm on 3 meds and wearing the sea bands, but still naseous despite following orders. I'm looking forward to the end of this and will do anything to keep others from having to suffer as well.
