My sweet boy doesn't seem highly interested in a sippy cup. He will drink a little from it...but since he was about 10 months old it's been the same. Any suggestions? He loves drinking out of his straw sippy...but not a regular sippy.

Hi Alicia,
Mine are all older now youngest is 9 and yes rules have changed... but they stopped their bottles closer to two and there has been no halm done. There is so much pressure on us mums and quite often it is from other mums or grandmas and when they are older you may wonder why you stressed. But if you really want to get him off the bottle then i love Sylvia Siva's idea... it's a more gentle approach and lets face it he isn't even two and they are not babies for long.

Both my boys were off the bottle at 9 months. They didn't hold their bottle, but would a sippy so I switched early. As soon as I saw they would drink from the sippy the bottles disapeared. I agree with the out of sight out of mind idea.

If he wants to drink from a sippy with a straw fine. Let him do it. It will just make the next step- drinking with a straw all the easier. I agree that by 16 months old there is no need for a bottle.

If he will drink from the sippy cup with a straw, let him. The longer u continue with the bottle, the harder it will be to break the habit. With my 3 boys, it was out of sight, out of mind at age 1. As long as they got something that had milk coming out, they were fine!:) Obviously every baby is different, but 16 months is old enough to not need the bottle.
