My 2yr old son has had a horrible day today. Been completely out of sorts and not himself. Everytime he doesn't get what he wants he begins to throw things at me and my husband among other things. Every five minutes his whole world seems to come to an end. Please, someone help me out with suggestions. Time out, yelling and screaming back at him...nothing has worked!

With the terrible twos its a guessing game. You just have to keep trying different things till something works and when you find it be consistant. Not every kid responds to the same things. I have two boys. With my first I tried spanking, yelling, rationalizing, crying, etc...I had just about given up and I just put him in his room and told him to sit on his bed until he could be nice. He came out a minute later and appologized to me. AT TWO YEARS OLD! He appologized. I tried it with my younger son and it didnt work. He just yelled at me and threw things more. I swatted him on the butt and he froze. My kids are polar opposites and proof that raising kids is trial and error.

Quoting Perian:

Check to see if he has a sore throat or ear or possibly teething, they get so stroppy. If it is nothing like that, give this a try, it works a treat on my boys....next time he starts throwing a tantrum ask him politely to stop, try whispering to him to stop,(they sometimes stop to try to hear what you're saying). But if it carries on, just tell him he's upsetting you and you don't know what to do, then throw yourself to the ground and kick and shout and perform for all you're worth, having your own tantrum and you watch how fast he stops. I've even done it while out shopping, works a charm. Good luck.

my mom did this with my older brother and she said he would stop throwing his to see if she was ok and that was that lol, didnt now other threw tantrums in the store with thier children lol
