My 5 year old son keeps getting in trouble at school for touching little girls and them touching him. Its the same little girl in every situation but she tends to make other kids do stuff. She tells them "thats what boyfriends and girlfriends do" my son keeps doing even though he gets in trouble. what can i do, the school is suspending him and the girls because no matter what they wont stop???

One of my sons has always been a very touchy person, he would just go up to anyone and give them a hug. Before he started school we had a talk with him about his behavior & that it couldn't happen at school. I told him that if he did he would be suspended. I didn't want to tell him that hugging is bad, but I did say he couldn't hug other kids. It worked for me, but as you said your son has been suspended. Maybe he'll understand that it isn't a good thing to touch others. Deffinetly there is something going on with this girl. I agree with Adrienne about asking to have a conference with the teacher & principal. They really should look into this girl more.

Well, first kids are curious. They're curious about their bodies and the differences between their's and other people's. They also (usually) have no sense of sexuality or sexual behaviour so most of the time it is innocent mimicking. That said, I'm sure you've already talked to him about touching other people and the whole good touch/bad touch thing. What is really concerning is the little girl instigating the behaviour. Maybe what needs to happen is a conference with you, the teacher/principal, and the girl's parents. Her behaving in this manner could be a sign that there is something much more serious going on that needs to be addressed.
