My daughter has tetralogy of fallot with pulmonary atresia. She has had 2 heart surgeries. She had her first one when she was 3 months old and her last one (for now) at about 1 and 1/2. She doesn't have a bump but her chest where her heart is larger and sticks out more than the other side. She doesn't notice yet. She's only three. I hope she never does. I'm glad she's a girl because I'm sure once she develops it will not be noticeable at all.

nope the lump or bump in the chest doesn't go down over time I know because I had vsd surgeries when I was little and the surgeon set my sternum (chest bones crooked to the right making wearing under wires impossible due to rubbing against the bone and causing pain , other than that it doesn't bug me . Do watch out for cold weather or sudden weather changes because it can cause inflammation in between the bones and the cartridge which cause pain and is no fun this happens to me alot

my son was born with tapvd, he had a doubble heart bypass at 11 weeks that went very well, buy he then cought septiceamia around the heart, he had his chest open for just under 2 week with a vac device in his chest to drain the infection, because off this the infection ate away at his sturnem so they had to rejoin it with wire!, the new bone has now grown around the wire but has left a very notisable lump on his chest, it doesnt hurt him just brakes my heart to look at it as its a constant reminder of what hes been through an has yet to come, i have been told that when hes older if it becomes a probblem for him that he will be able to have plastic surgery to have it corrected, but i hope that he will love every inch of his body like i do, it was his 1st birthday last week and im so so proud of him, x

Yes, my son has it too. I think it gradually goes down over time.

My son also has that. They tried to fix it after his 2nd open heart surgery but it didn't help. When we spoke to the surgeon before his 3rd surgery he asked if it bothered Brayden or us, and we said no. He said good because correcting could be a riskier surgery than the open heart because they have to push the bone back into place and there's a chance it could puncture something so we've just left it. He's a lil on the skinny side so it's obviously more noticeable but hopefully when he's older and fills out more it won't be so obvious.
