Hi Di! I know I am like 5 months late and don't know what you have decide to do or not to do but I did oral chemo for one round and I cannot remember for the life of me what the pill was called but I absolutely HATED it. I had RRMS and I truly believe that is what caused me to transition into secondary progressive. I was told 6 years ago that I had less than a 15% chance of ever winding up in a wheelchair if I did the drug modifiying drugs such as Rebif, copaxone, etc etc and I believed it. But I was getting progressively worse so they put me on the chemo pill and within one month I had converted to Secondary Progressive and now feel that within the next few years I will be wheelchair bound. Not complaing, just saying, I wouldn't do it. I am lucky to have amazing docs who are trying their best and throwing everything they can think of at my MS and doing their best. MS is so hard to treat because basically they simply treat the symptoms as they come. Hang in there and keep your head up and always remember that you have MS it can NEVER have you!

My doctor is recommending this as a possible med. however we want to have another baby and he says that we must do that first....so I'm not on anything right now.

I did Novantrone for my MS and it sucked. Not only did I have to be very aware of anything my little snot factories might bring home and contaminate me with, I was turned down for a drug trial of the new oral med because of it. I did it two years ago, but the criteria was ever. So that leaves me wondering WTF they put into my body.
On top of all that, it didn't do anything. I can't tell you what to do, but I regret doing it.

Hi Dianne. Have you decided on the Chemo? I am currently on Tysabri and loving the effect on my MS but hating the thoughts of dying. My only other option is Chemo and I do not want the side effects. Have you tried anything else? Good luck and God Bless! Angie

Hi Di! Welcome to our great group of MS moms. We're a new group so hang in there. Hopefully, someone can provide some input regarding Chemo treatment for MS. I myself don't have any knowledge or experience with it. However, depending on my circumstance and progression of my disease, I would probably be open to it. The only other MS website I use is Healthboards. There are many people on that website that might be able to provide input.
Please keep us all posted. I wish you the best. Welcome to our group of friends.
P.S. I'm glad you have a great dog and family taking care of you.
