11 year old suicidal?

Found my 11 year old son with a belt around his neck tonite. He said he cannot take the pressures of school. He is ADHD and is having a hard time adjusting at his new school. Grade 6! Failing Math, no friends, and two detentions out of 4 weeks. Psychiatrist feels this is an attention getting thing. (Tried the same thing last week.) No worries, he is sleeping in my bed tonite. Any recommendations. I am willing to fly anywhere tomorrow. We live in Atlanta, and the psychiatric hospital here that accepts children his age can only be described as a snake pit. He did one week there last fall and came home with head lice. I firmly believe that one must trust a mother's intuition. I need help ASAP!

My son had issues like that last year around the end of grade 5 we caught it early and of course talked with his dr. and his teachers at school, we ended changing his meds as the psychiatrist felt it may be a conflict between his meds and puberty. He is a totally different child now so outgoing loving school and has lots of friends even talking about wanting a girl friend. Maybe he just needs a med change.
