My 4 year old daughter, soon to be 5 on the 16th, broke her leg 2 saturdays ago, putting it at 12 days ago. Due to doctors being closed of course, she was put in a wrap until that Monday, which would be 10 days ago. We took her to the Ortho, and he said it needed to stay out of a cast for at least a week first, and placed her in a cotton wrap instead so it could swell if it needed to. Told us to bring her back that following monday. After about 3 days, it was no longer painful for her to be picked up and handled..getting dressed, going to the bathroom, sponge bath, etc. On Monday, we took her back to the ortho for her cast and he gave her a fiberglass walking cast. That was 2 days ago. She is back to crying out in pain when we pick her up to handle her for her everyday things..bathroom, getting dressed, out of bed, etc. She won't move it herself, because it hurts, also, there are times where she rests her leg to the side, my question is...does it become painful again when the new cast is put on? or should it not be painful? before, with the wrap, she was trying to stand up occasionally on the good leg, with this cast, she won't move. and for example, like right now..she is sleeping, her leg is resting completely on its side...is that okay? I have never dealt with this before. Thanks for any help.
