First of all, Congrats!!! We intentionally have the age gaps between our kids, I just felt that I could give more attention to them if they were further apart in age. Mine are just about 5 years apart (12 in 2 months and just turned 7) and now we've decided we'd like to have a third. We've talked about it with them as well and they are excited about it!

Hi I am 37 and in August I had our 2nd daughter, my other daughter is nearly 6 now. She loved the whole watching my tummy grow and seeing her sister move inside me etc. Now she is out, she takes over (a 2nd mummy), if I am busy doing something and Sophee (baby) starts to cry, Aimee is straight there sorting her out for me. You will have no problems at all. Good luck and enjoy it, it's much nicer when the first kids are old enough to understand it and enjoy it more.

Hi, I'm 42 and have 2 girls ages 6 an 5. Iam now having my 3rd in Nov, this time a boy and the girls are so excited, they helped with getting things bought for him. My oldest is reading to him every night and they sing songs to my tummy for him.

I have a 11 year old, a 6 year old, and I am due in February!!! My daughter (oldest) will be 12 when this one comes around, and my son (youngest) will be 6 1/2! My husband and I were 19 when the 1st was born, 25 when the second came, and we will be 32 when new baby boy comes in Feb! I loved having the 1st two far apart, it gave me time to spend with each of them as babies and toddlers. congrats to you, I think you will enjoy the age difference!

I had my third when my two others were 9 1/2 and 6 1/2. It was good that they could see me pregnant and anticipating the birth of their brother. I took them to my ultrasound so they could see the baby and could feel him moving. It was also nice to have older children who were more independent instead of toddlers. They are into school, activities and their friends too so I don't think the jealousy is the same. Of course you are dragging the baby around more to their activities which has its difficult moments. you also have to be prepared that its sometimes difficult to enjoy the activities with your older ones when you need to bring the younger one along. Its also nice now that my older two are 19 and 16- one at college and one being a teenager - I have lots of time to spend with my younger one and its nice to have him still thinking mom is great when you have a 16 yr old who "knows it all".My 16 yr old and her little brother don't always get along very well but my 19 yr old son is great with his little brother and he thinks the world of my oldest. I would definately do it over again. For those worried about your age - I was 38 when I had my son.My energy was fine until maybe just recently, now I am 48. But I think it helps keep you more active and feeling younger.

Just went through it my 2nd daughter was born 9-9 and her big sister turned 7 about a week later after her sister was born. She is a big helper and was really excited to be a big sister but also a bit jealous too. We had to work on a few behavior problems but now everything is going smoothly. Just make sure to get your 1st child involved and do something special for them to so they don't feel left out when the new baby arrives.

Yes. My son is 6 and we are expecting in March! He is super excited and cannot wait. He wants a baby sister really bad. We go to the store and he see's things he wants to get the baby already. It has been a fun experience. Enjoy it! Congrats!

I was 25 with my 1st, 27 with my 2nd, 28 with my 3rd and am now just turned 35 and am due with my 4th in just 51days. My older kids are so excited for the birth and have really been able to be a part of the pregnancy by checking on the internet to see what is happening with the baby each week and they were able to go to the ultrasound appointments and help with choosing a name. It has been really neat getting to experience the pregnancy through their eyes.

Mine were 7 days shy of 7 and 4 when I had my youngest. I was like OMGosh, we totally are starting over, but it was great! The older kids are old enough to take care of themselves for a bit while you take care of the baby and understand. When my 2nd was born my oldest wasn't even 3 and he didn't understand I couldn't play, I had to feed the baby, or why he had to wait to get a drink etc. Enjoy!

I have a 7 month old and my daughter will be 6 in 3 weeks. So far it has worked out really well. She is old enough to understand and do things for herself and she has not yet asked to give her little brother back. She knows how to play all the fun baby games with him and he just adores her. My son is huge so I have to keep reminding my daughter that she can't pick him up, but for the most part she is great with him. It has been a wonderful experience for us so far. Good luck and congratulations!

Janine, I am also 34 and have always said I don't want to have any more after 35. I am also a little nervous about my age. I was early 20s for my first 2 and I'm not sure how my body will handle it now (I also have developed a nerve disorder in my leg that will make this more difficult). But I think with all of it, the gap between kids is what is most nerve racking. Both kids keep asking when we are going to have a baby and want us to so I'm sure they will be happy. I think lack of sleep at 30 will be way different than lack of sleep at 20 LOL

Mine are 8 and 5. I would really like another one, but we will see what happens. I am a little nervous about having a larger gap. I am also nervous about my age (34) while I know that is not old, it's going to be a totally different experience as my first 2 pregnancies were at 25 and 28 lol.

My youngest is 8 months & his older brothers were 7 & 5 while I was pregnant. It was so fun for them to watch my belly grow & laugh at how big their eyes got when they saw the baby move my stomach. Getting them involved before the baby was born really helped when he got here. They knew their roles as big brothers were very important. Congrats on the baby, I'm sure your daughter will be a great little helper :)
