Back to school?

from what I have been told, we will find out on Orientation day which is a day before school starts. I've already done my shopping for supplies and clothes so we're set to go and school doesn't even start for another month 1/2.

We usually have a "Meet you Teacher Day" the friday before school starts back up - we can go to the school between 8 and 3:30 to meet their teacher and talk with them a bit, and to drop off school supplies. You can also prepay for school lunches and talk with the principal if you like.

My boys have a little less than 2 months left. Our school posts the class lists in the front window in August. We live right by the school so we walk over and see which class they will be in then have fun trying to look in the windows to see which room they will be in. For kinders they have a chance to meet the teacher before school starts but not for the older children. I think that is to bad because my oldest who is going into third grade is really shy and takes a while to warm up to his teacher. Its pretty much a mad house on the first day trying to find the right classroom.

My son will be going into the 4th grade this year,and they do an open house every year. That way you get to see where the class is ,meet the teacher and ask any questions you might have.

My Daughter is going into the second grade this year. The school posts lists a week before school starts on the doors. Most teachers take it upon themselves to get in touch with the parents via a letter to let them know what to expect even before that though. If your daughter is going to the same school she will be looking forward to seeing her friends and not to worried about the teacher quite as much. At this age it is mostly about the friends, at least it was and is for my three daughters.

My daughter went to first grade last year and we got her room assignment at registration 2 weeks before. Also, the teachers always return to work a few days before and they allowed us to take the school supplies and meet the teacher before her first day. It really helped ease her tension.

Sounds like you both have great organized schools!!!! I wish my daughters school was as organized with it, I'm not sure how crazy it will be but I'm expecting a complete disater that way no matter what happens I won't be too shocked...LOL.. After hearing this I really am thinking of attending the PTA meets but I heard some bad organization with that goes on to, I don't know if I'm willing to handle that see I like organized! My life is crazy as it is I think a little organization helps me not go insane...lol

I am a teacher. At my school, we have an open house a couple of days before the first day of school. The information is posted on the school sign and in the local paper. When the parents and children get to the school, there are people there to help them find their teacher's classroom. I enjoy meeting my students and their parents during the open house. I use this time to talk to the parents and students to find out things about them and to give them the class supply list.

My boys go back to school in 6 1/2 weeks. They are doing a Meet and Greet a week before school so that the parents can meet the teacher of the child and fill out all those papers you get the first day and we also get to bring their school supplies in to the class so they don't have to carry all of that.

I'm a stay at home mom and i sub-teach for their school, i'm so on the parent committee and i do a lot of volunteer work for the school. I like being involved in my kids school.

Angie that's great your school is trying to get organized, knowing at the end of the year would be great!



Amy I only know somethings because I ran into a mom from school if I hadn't I probably would still be waiting for a letter or phone call...



when i was in school my mom told me that we used to go in for a 10 min visit about 3 days before the first day that way we would know where our classroom was and have met our teacher before school started, I remember doing that too. I don't get why it can't still be like that???

At our old school the school posted the teachers the Friday before school started. At our new school the new teacher is listed on the end of year report card which they got on the last day of school. I think it's pure disorganization that keeps schools from telling children who their teacher is going to be. My daughter has had a great summer knowing where she will be going in the Fall.

my son is also going to first grade this year we have a month or so left and i have no heard anything about the new year...i think i remember knowing when i was in school...but yeah that does sound a little nuts...
