Any new ideas how to celebrate a little girl's 5th birthday?

You could do a fairy birthday. Decorate with butterflies and flowers (which can be reused for home decor later). See if you have any wings from old Halloween costumes and her guests can dress up as fairies. Make a little fairy hunt. You can let her and her guests paint paper mache treasure chests (you can get them at craft stores). You can fill the chests with party favors (little magic wands, fairy dust, stickers, lip gloss, bubbles). Do face painting (you can paint Mardis Gras style on their faces so it looks like fairy makeup).

You could have a mini salon. Get some pipe cleaners to spiral and put in their hair. You can also use silk flowers and ribbons. Give them mini pedicures. We have a galvanized washtub. Fill with warm water and some bath salts or bubble bath and let them soak their feet (ask parents about skin allergies). Paint their nails.

If you have boys coming too, you could do a pirate theme. My girls play pirates just as well as the boys. Decorate tropical (palm fronds, tiki torches, parrots...) and let them go on a treasure hunt. Draw a map or make them hunt by easy clues. Set up a slip and slide, sprikler, or little pool if you don't have a big one. Or if you don't want to go with the pirate theme, have a luau. The great part about this idea is that it's kind of like a back yard B-B-Q.

Hey Claire,

I think the Tree house kid’s club will be a good place to host your birthday. Although I have never been there, I have heard that they have many kids’ activities such as crafts. Since this is a family oriented place, you will get a good ambience.

Hi Lisa, thank you for your suggestion. We are currently in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

Thanks Deanna, as a matter of fact she is very much into fairies these days - Tinker Belle is the word for two months now. Very nice, thank you for your suggestion.

cheers.

I am not sure where you live but we just spent my sons 5th birthday in Niagara Fall's Ontario at the Skyline Inn Hotel which is attached to the indoor waterpark. He had a blast. The hotel is totally kid friendly and at night they have a movie night where the kids bring their blankets and pillows. It is a lot of fun. Great Wolf Lodge is also great but very expensive! I am sure you will have fun no matter what you decide. Happy birthday to your daughter.

Oh, another idea. You could have a tea party. Let the girls put on their dress up clothes (or Easter dresses), hats and gloves if you have some. Decorate with flowers and ribbons. You could have them dress in their favorite princess costumes and hold court and have a tea. This is another thing you could do outside, especially if you have a garden.
