At our house Santa leaves Christmas PJs on the kids beds (all wrapped up, of course) while we are out at the relatives so when we come home they find them. That way they have cute new pjs for christmas morning pictures! I think this also make my 9 yr old still "believe"!

We get each of the kids a book every year that has something to do with something they did or loved that year. We write inside the book about why we chose that book and what we loved the most about how they grew and changed this year. The kids love reading the books through out the year and always make sure we read the inscriptions specially written for them.

Each year, we try to sponcer a family (or if money is tight, we just get a couple of things off the giving tree at church) and let the kids help shop for the gifts and we also send foods. We make a big deal out of the giving because I don't want them to forget that while we enjoy receiving, it's always best to help people out.

Pretty much right after Thanksgiving, we start in on the baking. (Our tree is already up) My kids are 3 and 4 1/2 and they really enjoy cooking so I let them help often and we have the Christmas music going. We watch Christmas movies on TV pretty much the whole month of December and ALWAYS watch "A Christmas Story" on Christmas Eve each year! It cracks me up and is an all-time favorite! We also let them open two gifts of Christmas Eve. One is an ornament to add to the tree representative of them for the year. The other is a new pair of pajamas. We leave out cookies and milk and carrots in the yard. It's the small things that make Christmas so much fun!

At this age presents don't need to be expensive - try cardbord boxes full of ballons, sreaded paper cos after all they just play with the boxes !!! Traditions just as my boys settle down to sleep gently ring a bell they think its santa coming also i leave them a thankyou note from santa leaving crumbs on the plate and bite marks in the carrot. hope this helps have a brilliant xmas xx

My 4 year old daughter and I do cookies every year, and decorate them. Messy but fun and she loves to do it! My tradition with her is a barbie every year...I know not very original, but she loves them and I remember how much I loved my dolls at that age.

Christmas time is here!!! I have an 8yo girl and what we do for her: we make reindeer food (bird seed and glitter so the reindeer can see it and the birds can eat it but we dont mention the birds lol) we sprinkle it outside xmas eve. then while she is sleeping i get my husbands boots and sprinkle baby powder next to the door (dont have a fireplace) step in it and walk to the tree. it looks like snow and as if santa stopped by. We put the gifts from santa there and of course we make his fave cookies or treat..(She ask dad(santa) what he thinks santa will like.) with milk. It is fun to see her face light up with the thought that he actually came to visit her!

When my son was 5 he loved the imaginext dinosaurs. As for traditions, I always read my son The Night Before Christmas, and two years ago we started the "pickle" tradition. I believe it started in Germany in the 1800's, whoever found the pickle hidden in the Christmas tree got a special prize. Of course my pickle is just a christmas ornament I bought at Kmart, not the real thing!! lol.

My husband and I always give our kids a pair of pjs and a new book on Christmas Eve. Before bed we always sprinkle some "reindeer" food on the lawn and leave out milk and cookies for Santa.
My father is the hardest person in the world to buy something for, so last year I made a donation to the National Fire Academy in Maryland in his name and wrapped a note with the donation receipt on it. My father has been a volunteer firefighter since he was 15 years old and he is now the deputy chief. He loved the gift. He is such a giving person and it really made everyone's Christmas. This year I plan on doing the same for some other family members that are hard to buy for.

our family suponsers a family and the kids pick out the present for the kids of the family and wrap them they also include some of their old toys that r still in good condition to make room for the presents they will recieve. on christmas eve we go to church and after we come home and open a present (pjs) and have a special night night snack (cookies and hot coco) nd go to bed. we also go to a small assisted living center and make the ppl cookies and homemade bread and sign the christmas carols we do this with a group frrom our church and the kids have a ball and the old ppl love it too. ideas for 5 y/o r puzzle and easy read books for the baby get a christmas ornament with their name and first christmas

I luv Christmas time!!!!! My 3 kids and I get together and make cupcakes, cooies, breads, cakes, etc. I bake and they decorate. We have tried the popcorn string for the tree,ugh yeah, it didnt go to good. Lol. Every night after the tree is up we turn off all the lights in the house and just watch the tree lights. We sit and drink hot chocolate, and tell stories off the funniest family memories. That's the best one of all!!!! Hope your holiday season turns out beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!
