I have a son and his best friend of the neighborhood is a female. They are first graders. They are constantly asking if they can have a sleepover. I never had to deal with this before. Any suggestions?

I think its fine! Jeez kids are kids, they're not even in that 'head space' yet - I mean pajamas on in seperate rooms and normal modesty but other than that - why not??

I do not think it is really something to think about. Children can sleep over at friends, yes. but obviously not of the opposite sex. it will have to wait until they have grown up

My son is 8 and his best friend is a girl. They have done sleepovers since they were 3. They just had one last weekend! No problems...they get along better than others!

My best friend in 1st-3rd grade was a boy. We did sleepovers at each other's houses ALL the time.
The only sleepover my girls have had so far is when I was in the hospital having their brother. They stayed w/ my best friend who has a son their age and a daughter 2 years younger. I'm not that comfortable w/ sleepovers in general, so I don't really have much of an answer for the strictly 'co-ed' aspect.

they are the older aged first graders they are both seven I know my son wouldn't do anything and she wouldn't another child that seems disrespectful of the neighborhood and same age kissed her and she told him that he ever did that again she would punch him. I was wondering if it was a common thing for coed sleepovers at a young age.

Well, they're six. So I certainly wouldn't have a problem with the "co-ed" aspect of it.

In first grade would be fine with me. After around this year or next, I would no longer allow it.

I have let my son have co-ed sleepovers. I just sleep in the same room. They do the same as anyother sleep over.

I agree with them sleeping in the living room and I was thinking about sleeping in the living room also.

we use to have them when I was young. We would all sleep in the lounge. Nothing bad ever happened, it was just the same as a normal sleepover. We played games, ate dinner, and went to sleep.
Have some rules ready and make sure they follow them or never let it happen again.

I personally don't agree with co-ed sleepovers...but if you do then maybe then can make a fort in the living room to sleep in or something? Wherever they sleep make it a very public place of the house, I just personally wouldn't allow it. She can stay for dinner but has to go home at bedtime and just enforce your rules :) (If no co-ed sleepovers are one of them) Kids these days, you never ever know.... I hope I helped a little!
