I had the Essure procedure done in March and found that all went well in July. I feel really confident about it. I felt great after the procedure. I was able to go back to work the next day. My periods are normal and they flow lighter, they seem to last a few extra days longer, but as long as I know I'm not pregnant I'm ok with this!! The good is the feeling of not having another unplanned pregnancy, and being able to enjoy the ones you have. The bad was waiting to have the unprotected sex...lol. Other than that I am very happy that my Dr. recommended this to me and not the tubaligation!! I hoped I helped some of you concerns.....



Oh, I just read some of the other ladies comments and one lady said the only discomfort she has was when they numbed the vaginal area...well my procedure was done in the operating room, and I was fine with that. I too was up doing normal actvities once I got home and took a nap....but I a busy body mom of four!!

I had my procedure done yesterday and to tell you the truth the only pain/discomfort i felt was when they numbed my uterus with the needle and it wsnt bad at all. I even watched the entire thing on the monitor it was pretty interesting!! I went home took a nap and was up and doing my normal activities within an hour of being home! I hope this helps.

Kerrie > Thank you so much, yes it has helped. My husband and I aren't sure yet which is why I'm in no hurry, but I just couldn't find anyone who had it. I was starting to think no one had it done out there yet - So I thank you for answering :)



Oh and I have the merina now so I know what your talking about :(

Okay let me start by saying I have had the Essure procedure done. I started out about 7 years ago getting the Mirena. I had HORRIBLE experience with it and would not suggest it to anyone. I finally had it removed and took several years to recover. I was told I could not have any more children do the complications of the MIrena. So naturally I didn't worry about permanent birth control. Well february of 2008 I got really sick on morning and didn't feel right, went to the Dr. and found out I was pregnant with my 3rd child. Long story short after all the shock wore off it was mutually decided that there would be no more children from me. I did all the research to find the best sterilization methods when my OBGYN recommended the Essure. I was just like you, I didn't know what to think and I didnt know anyone who and ever heard of it much less had it done. I could only find information online from the manufaturer and what-not. So together my husband and I took a chance. Let me tell you, compared to the Mirena this is abosolutely wonderful. I am sure if you have talked to your Dr. about it then you know there is a 3 month healing period before it is completely effective.

So as far as what I went through, it was a little different for me since I had to have another surgical procedure done at the same time so they did put me under general anesthesia. But when I woke up I felt great. Well after the drugs wore off of course. But there was no severe pain there was actually no noticable difference. due to the other procedure I had I was restricted from any "adult activity" for 14 days but after that we used protection till the healing was complete. I have had a wonderful experience with it. No negative side effects, no pain, no cramping like they warn can occur. I know all women are different and I am certainly not like most, but if I had to make the choice to make over again I would definately make the same decision.

I have actually recommended this to my sister and a few of the women I grew up with.



I hope this helps. And like I said everyone is different and if you choose to get it done your exdperience may differ from mine but I can only say what I have dealt with.



One thing. Before you consider this make sure you are completely done having children as it is PERMANENT and can not be reversed.
