Fraudulent medical bills-can anyone relate?

I feel really bad that you and your family are going through all of this nonsense but this statement here~I have a hard time with. I have 2 children whose "father" pays child support on and has for the last 8 years, however~he is NOT entitled to claim them as dependents per the FEDERAL guidelines that in order to claim them they must have been with him at minimum 51% of the year. Since my ex does not get them one single night during the year he cannot ever claim them no matter how much or how little in child support he pays. I think on the other issues (the insurance) I would call the insurance company and put a lock so to speak on the insurance. If the insurance fights you on it or denies your request, hire a lawyer. You can also turn her in for fraud yourself. It could, and mostly likely will, turn into a huge headache for you~but someone has to stop her and apparently no laws are going to do it for you if it's been going on for years. Also, check on taking her to small claims court or district if the amount exceeds small claims. You can make her life hell for what she has done. Call the welfare fraud line, call the doctor offices that she takes this kid to, put their names on a red flag list....you can also inform the office you call of any drug addictions you are aware of and let them know that he is NOT covered by your insurance and that if he or she shows up for medical treatment to refuse services unless they have prior written approval in hand. Granted, an emergency room cannot turn anyone away...but they can keep very good records and you can request any and all claims that have been sent to your insurance provider and still go after her and him both. He works for a gov. agency, and he has the federal employees plan. It's good insurance, and we want to keep it for our family. It's the childish adults we want to drop! Lol!

Sounds like your husband needs a different insurance policy. My dad's policy YEARS ago automatically dropped me when I turned 19. He actually wanted to keep me on, but they wouldn't let him w/out making him pay some crazy amount that he couldn't afford.

We've been trying for years to have him removed from our insurance, and my husband's policy won't allow it, even though he hasn't been in school since he was 16. The fraud comes in when his mother denies that she has insurance (she won't provide her info to hospitals and drug rehabs) and they try to stick us for the additional cost, over what the insurance pays.

His mother has committed welfare fraud (collecting while she was employed), child support fraud (denying that she was receiving it) and tax fraud (filed that the kids were her dependents while we were legally entitled to claim, from child support payments). She charged $30,000 worth of stuff on credit cards in her husband's and his ex-wife's name before he caught her and convinced his ex-wife not to have her arrested for credit card fraud. She's been fired from at least one job for stealing. She's never had to face any repurcussions for any of it! He's just like her and will never take any reponsibility for his own actions and bad decisions!!! I can't tell you how frustated I am that she's gotten away with this for so long!!!

My husband is going to figure out what we can do to have this taken off our credit report. Believe me, if there was any to have him arrested, I would do it in a heartbeat! I can never seem to get anyone to do anything to stop him from doing this!

A week before he turned 18, he was living with us (had been for a year because his mom decided to ship him to us because he was defiant). He was watching my two year old daughter, and I was bringing my four year old son home for lunch and a nap while I went back to work every day. I was running my preschool just two miles from my house, and got a call from his mom (in CA) saying that I needed to get home because my kids were home ALONE! I ran out the door, and came home to find that he had taken the truck we were going to give him as a birthday present, left my kids home alone, went out joyriding with his friends (without a driver's license!) and totalled the truck in a ditch. He walked home and reported the truck stolen. My kids were alone for at least two hours, and he never called me. I tried having him arrested for filing a false police report, driving without a license, child endangerment and abandonment. The police officer just talked to him, but did nothing.

On his 18th birthday, we kicked the POS out of my house, and I've only seen him a couple of times since then, and never spoken to him again. I was so furious I would have killed the little bastard if anything had happened to my kids! Thank God, they were fine.

I am so sorry that you are going through this. No I personally haven't experienced this but I suggest strongly you do the following:



Contact your State Insurance Commissioner's office to file a health insurance fraud complaint. This will also allow you to alert your State Insurance Commissioner to the problem so that other people can be warned, thus helping to limit the number of people who will fall victim to this particular fraudster.



The second thing you should do is to contact your bank or credit card company so that you can stop any further payments from being made on your plan.



The third thing to do is to contact your local law enforcement agency so that they too can join the hunt for this fraudster, put a stop to any further damage and bring the culprit to justice.
