Have a 7 year old boy that struggles to make friends. There is ten years diff. in he and his sisters ages so he is surrounded by adults. I work full time and an hour from home so very hard to get involved in weekday sports activities... Any suggestions on how I can help him?

I am having the same problem with my newly 10 year old daughter. She loves children and wants to play but it seems that all of the children she reached out to are unkind. I feel terrible for her.

I have a six year old who also spent most of his time with older kids and adults. The first thing was to talk and instill confidence in him. When he did start school he began to slowly make a few friends and is now doing much better.

You can always take the 7 yr old to the Rec Center where he can meet other kids his own ago too.

Sometimes we take the kids and just sit at the fast food restaurants to let them play in the play areas when it's cold....and when it warms up we hit the park and then when we see someone consistently we try to make plans around schedules for play dates...picking one or the other's child up and taking them wherever the planned date my be.
