Is he still taking afternoon naps? If so, maybe try to shorten the afternoon naps or stop all together just to see if he sleeps through the night.

Hi, I totally understand you,I have two kids and some times when I allow them to watch tv they seem to have difficulties sleeping. What we did was to avoid television shows and use some meditation techniques to help them sleep all night long. It works fine. The meditation is quite simple, you begin by telling them a story, and by the end you tell them that now it is time to meditate and relax, relax your eyes, chin, face and enter into a state of deep relaxation, when they seem relaxed you can tell them not to have nightmares, to dream beautiful dreams and to recover and grow during their sleeping time, and that you will be there for them as they wake up. Hope that this works!!

Is he motivated by rewards? Stickers or candy or coins? We used to have this problem with our 4 year old waking up really early. So we made a sticker chart and gave her a sticker every time she would "sleep in". It took about 2 weeks and now she sleeps until a decent hour.
