Hes been potty trained for 1 1/2 years now but he wets the bed about 95% of the time. I've stop giving him anything to drink by 5:00pm and is making him go a few times before bed. Any other suggestions would be helpful. thanks!

Our family Dr. Had us get this pad like thing ( I can't remeber it's name sorry) that we put under the bed sheet our daughter layed on. What it did was as soon as any little moisture hit it an alarm sounded. Nothing to frightening just enough to wake us up and our daughter. We then would get up and have her go pee. What it did was train her to wake up when she had to go pee and go pee instead of sleeping thru it. And it didn't take her long to no longer need it.. Your family Dr. should know what it is called. If not then let me know & I wll go ask our Dr. It really did help us out alot and the pad is completely safe..Good luck hun..

You didn't mention how old your son actually was. I would agree with Jamie, take him to the bathroom right before you go to bed, too. But I would also add personal cleanup to the routine. It helps to make the child responsible for the cleanup. That means, he removes his wet sheets, takes them to the laundry room, puts them in the washing machine and then puts new sheets on the bed. It's not punishment, but it's consequences/results for actions. There are medical conditions that can cause a child to have less bladder control (for instance a small bladder or the muscle constriction around the bladder that keeps the bladder from expanding) and if the problem hasn't resolved itself by age 6 or 7, I'd be seeing a pediatrician and ruling those out.

We had the same trouble with our son. The only thing that worked, along with not giving him any drinks after dinner, was making him go to the bathroom twice in a row. The doctor called it a double void I think. He goes in right before bed and we make sure he goes, and then read his story and then send him right in again and make sure he goes again. The doctor said sometimes they don't empty the bladder all the way, so you have a better chance by sending them back in five minutes later to empty the rest of the way. Good luck!

I have a 6 year old daughter that still wets at night and during the day. The only thing that has helped at night is that I get her up around 10:00pm just before we go to bed and make here us the bathroom. She goes to bed at 8:00pm and getting her up at 10 seems to help. Know my only problem is her wetting at school, but we are working on that also.
