I guess I don't understand that question....why would you want to stop your child from being "silly"? Aren't they SUPPOSED to be silly? I guess I need some more info.....

You have to work on self confidence issues. Get him/her into a club like scouts or girl guides where they do not have to stand out alone but do things as a group. This will provide support and encourage them to join in and come out of their shell. Confidence is something that starts at home. Encourage them to talk about their day at the table when having dinner and praise them for talking well. Show interest in what they are saying. Try and think of a hobby that they like doing and encourage them to join groups to enhance the hobby. If your child is knowledgeable about something they are more likely to talk and take part.
