I must admit, it is only my 8 year old who asks to go on the computer, he usualy spends around 30 minutes a day on the computer playing club penguin or moshi monsters x

My son is allowed to use the computer, now that they start using computers in school as young as kindergarden it is important for them to know how to use them. My sons school even sent home some online learning sites that they use at school, and that is what I limit his computer use to.

www.starfall.com is an awsome learning site for young children :)

My daughter, who is six, is allowed to go on the computer on the weekends as a reward for being good during the week. if she misbehaves to much during the week, she looses her time to play on the computer. i only let her on for about an hour and i am with her the entire time so she doesn't accidentally go to the wrong website. i have all her game websites on a favorites bar so all she has to do is click on the site name at the top of my browser and she is good to go! i feel that an hour is enough for her at this age.

I appreciate all the responses and most of you have the same ideas as I have. Thanks again! :)

Well, my 8 year old does school online, so atleast 4 hours a day. That does not include tutoring websites, research links.

My 3 year old knows how to navigate online on starfall.com and preskool.com for school.

computer gaming and video gaming is not allowed at all. In our home a computer is not a toy, it's a tool. We do not own a television either.

I will give them about 30 minutes on an educational website. I do monitor from time to time because using the internet is a way to teach them many different skills. I highly suggest it so that they learn they way around the computer since the schools are using them but I don't do it every day.

depending on the age is what is allowed. homework first! then playtime or computer, kinda like being in school since i have lots of children 5 in my household , but coloring we go station to station to keep them not fighting and busy!

Well, they're 9, but they split about 20 minutes a day. Sometimes an hour or two on the weekends (again, split between the 2 of them).
