My 6 yr old daughter has started the same chewing behaviour as I have read here & I just put it down 2 an older form of teething as she is losing her baby teeth. Sorry I couldn't be of much help but your not alone with this one :)

I probably can't be much help either, but I can offer understanding. My oldest is almost 8 and he chews on everything. He always has. As a baby he teethed on my coffee table legs, and anything he could find. Now everytime I turn around he has something in his mouth. He chews holes in the collars of his jackets, even in his backpack. He eats everything. I just tell him to get it out of his mouth when I catch him. I don't know what else to do.

My son had a bad habit of chewing the buttons off his shirts and the neck of his t shirts. I took his allowance to buy the replacement clothing. Needless to say, we don't have that issue anymore.

my son is 8 and is always chewing on his jumpers!! he had a dummy as a baby and i wonder if it stems from missing having something to suck on!! I can't be much help i'm afraid all i do is keep telling him not to if i catch him!! i'm sure he'll grow out of it!!
