My son is 3 and he has a hooded penis. since he has been about 1 he complains when someone tries to clean it. When ever you pull the foreskin back it is red. Ive tried putting diaper rash ointment on it but that is an extremely hard challange. Im at a loss and am not sure what to do. I would appriciate it if someone had some advice. Thank you for your time.

I was always told to pull it back and clean it. There's a lot of gunk that gets stuck in there. By 3 or 4 he should be able to do this on his own. If it's difficult to pull back, take him to a doctor. My oldest had no problem. My youngest needed a steroid cream because he was one of the few that didn't have the skin pull back on it's own. It certainly shouldn't be red or hurt.

Ignore the relatives and friends that will inevitably tell you how disgusting it is that you didn't circumsize him at birth. Ever since we've had problems with our youngest, they've come out of the wood work. There is absolutely no reputable doctor that says that every boy should be sliced for medical reasons.

good luck

It's probably not infected, just sore from being pulled back all the time.

I would leave it alone. My 4 yr old is not circumcised and I have never pulled his foreskin back to clean it, he has never complained about being cleaned and it has never been red.

You shouldn't be pulling the foreskin back to clean it just wash it and it'll be fine.
